Whitney Houston's Family Decides Against A Public Memorial
We know a lot of her fans would've liked a venue to share their grief and mourn together, but we think this is for the best. Her family is just in such distress right now; they deserve the chance to say farewell in private.
While it was rumored yesterday that a public memorial was being planned for Whitney Houston at Newark's Prudential Center, close to the Hope Baptist Church where Whitney first started her singing career, her family has decided against the service and has opted just to have an invitation-only service at the church on Saturday.
Carolyn Whigham, owner of the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark who is handling all the arrangements for the funeral, confirmed the news to the press today, saying:
