Carson's Days Are Numbered
With all the changes taking place on the late-night talk show circuit, will Carson Daly still have a job?
NBC has started conversations with Daly to keep him on board as host of Last Call. Currently, his deal expires this August.
After the peacock network's decision to move Jay Leno into primetime at 10 pm, many are wondering if it'll make sense to keep Daly's show on the air. That would mean there'd be four talk shows back-to-back on NBC.
Will Daly even want to stay on? Is he still upset that NBC chose Jimmy Fallon to replace Conan O'Brien instead of him?
NBC's mouthpieces say that Daly wants to stay.
Rick Ludwin, NBC’s executive VP for late night and primetime series, said “We have begun conversations with Carson. We do want to continue with Carson Daly, both with ‘Last Call’ and with [his] New Year’s Eve [specials]. We’re going through the budgetary process with all of our shows. There are new budgetary realities. … It’s tough. We want to keep [Carson] going as long as we can make the budget work.”
We smell a lame budget excuse in the works!

NBC made the right choice - Jimmy Fallon is so cute and likable. Carson is wooden, no talent, egomaniac. I cant stand this guy. He is such a poseur and his lame routinie of trying to be down with all the music acts is played.

I dont know, I used to HATE Last Call bc when Carson Daly tries to be a comic hosting a talk show it just falls SOOO flat. But lately he has come into his own more and done more shows focused on music & talk, rather than forcing him to do comedy that he is terrible at. He can be a funny guy, just he is more off the cuff than scripted and he is really at his best when talking to a musical artist he loves. I hope they dont cancel him, I was just starting not to hate his current show and was remembering the Carson Daly I liked on TRL.

I would have NEVER thought that considering all the constant strip club/drinking/drug references I have heard from him over the years and also just bc he is in the entertainment industry in general. I guess more for that, since we know Republicans always secretly like their hookers & drugs too, but he is very open about joking about it (always very knowingly).
I guess he could be a libertarian, but I really dont see him as a hard-core right winger.

This NOBODY had a little show in the afternoon, some kind of MTV show, where he was almost pretty good. Then…oh my oh then…I don't know HOW he got that job late in the night that embarrassed me, I thought he'd last ONE NIGHT. He lasted longer, then this guy lost some great amount of weight I don't know why and which only makes him look like a little girl full of pink and fluffy dresses and pretty flowers, and his eyes suddenly bugged out, and I can't imagine the secret of his success! This guy is so hyper, thinks he's one with Conan and Leno, and he is a LOSER! This possibility that his show will be cancelled is long overdue. I can't stand this creep! What a prissy rose, what a violet in the garden trying to get away from the sun.
