Senator Chris Buttars from Utah is infamous for his racially-charged, hateful and insensitive remarks, but he's really gone overboard this time.
Butters is currently running his mouth off about who else? The gay community.

He's featured in a new documentary about Proposition 8 entitled 8: The Morman Proposition and spews discriminatory slime the entire time.

I'm LDS (mormon) and this is completely horrible! I want you to know that he is in no way speaking for me or others that I know. I am from DC and am an independent. I am very disappointed that anyone would say anything that hurtful and let alone attach himself to the mormon church. I just want you to know that what he is saying actually goes against church teachings to love and accept everyone! I love my church and it makes me sad when wackos like him pretend to speak for the church. Just because he is mormon does not mean anything besides how he should personally live his life and his personal beliefs! He needs to keep them personal! Obviously someone had to have liked him because he did get elected, but it's no one I know. I wish Utah didn't have such a bad stereotype. It is a great state with a lot to offer. Utah is NOT the only state with complete idiots in our government and Utah is not the only state that seems to be against equality half the time. I also don't know any Mormons from Utah that are really weird like some people think. There are quirky people in every religion. There are assholes in every state.

Perhaps you've both forgotten the part where good, faithful and deserving Mormon men and women are supposed to ascend to god-hood themselves? How about the part where God was once flesh and blood like us, and went through that same process to earn his god-hood? How about the part where each one of those worthy people will rule over their own planet in our same universe, as its' god? How long has it been since you perused your scriptures? Did you forget everything you learned in primary class? Did you also forget the part where Mormon scripture teaches that God PHYSICALLY sired Jesus? I could go on. Believe me, there are plenty of other examples of things Joseph Smith made up for his scriptures that just don't add up. He was a fantastic story teller.

as someone who has lived in Utah the majority of their life AND was an active Latter-Day Saint at one point, I would suggest you do a little more research into some of the "quirks" that lie deeper within the religion. There are many things within the church that are doctrine that are not discussed or known by many members because they are so odd and not pc. It is documented that it is believed that God "Came Upon" Mary the same way any couple today would make a child. The other statements are sort of off, but generally founded in truth.

my personal opinion is that he has benefited from a good majority of the state voting party line, nearly all the time. Outside of the SLC metro area, the majority does tend to just click Republican and walk out of the booth. All he has to do to get elected is be the Republican nominee and he's got it in the bag.
