Noooo! I love Disney World. I hope they are able to pull things together quickly. All the discounts they are offering of late are kind of scary. Like, buy four nights get THREE free?!

Well, what do you Expect BOZO? It is like playing a game of Dominos. Congress in the '90s started it by telling bankers to give out more mortgages to minorities and LOWER INCOME PEOPLE WHO COULD NOT AFFORD THE LOANS. Congress does not have rocket scientists in it and figured bankers knew what they were doing. They didn't. Now that the dominos started in 1993 it has to continue to run until all the dominos fall(1 market effects another-1 business goes out, it effects 5 others)-there is no blocker strong enough to stop them and it shows how smart congress is by just printing money and throwing it at the banks -have any of you benefited from any of this? I am on SSI-I heard I am getting $250 =1 time– the most I can do with that is dream and how long before dreaming is going to be taxed too?

We are going on a Disney cruise next month and learned they cut almost all of their live entertainment like cabaret shows and piano players. Disney is even offering a $500. gift card to have people stay there. Looks like times are hard everywhere!

it seriously BLOWS my mind how they can find a reason to lay cast members off.

i worked for disney and trust me, they pay PEANUTS (people who have worked there their entire lives [20+] years are capped off at 12.00 an hour not unless your management then thats another story)….

they already laid off 1200 workers at EPCOT back in the fall of 2008 and have delayed the start of their extended college program…..

lame lame lame….but its still my favorite place to go on a sunny day :) just as long as im not working there.

If Disney lowered their prices, they'd have more visitors and they wouldn't have to lay people off. It isn't the economy– well, that's the superficial reason– that is causing lay-offs, it's Disney being stingy. Their prices are astronomical compared to any other theme park, and that's why they aren't making enough money– people aren't gonna waste thousands of dollars on a Disney vacation when they're strapped for cash.

Lower prices= more customers= more cash flow, more money in the end

i work at wdw and am currently on vacation….hum..i wonder when i come home if I'll even have a job…..

  16. 16

That's too bad.. I was there a couple weeks ago, and my sister and I commented on the large number of employees. I said, "At least these people have their jobs".
    Go fig.

Yeah, my friend works for WDW HR and they are letting people go. No matter who it is, getting laid off is terrible. And I have to disagree with #14 because it is the economy. In a recession, people will worry more about necessities. It has nothing to do with Disney being stingy, which makes me want to ask you - are you present with the accountants to balance the books to say they are being stingy? Like any business, they have to do what they have to do to survive. Yeah, they may make billions, but they also have to spend billions too, so its all relative. You want to blame why the US is in the shitter, lets blame those predatory lenders who faked documents to have people who barely made ends meet get into home loans with terms that they didnt understand.

  18. 18

DAY UM. NOW WE KNOW WE'RE IN TROUBLE.

  19. 19

Re: Gordo – EVEN I'M CUTTING DOWN!! ONLY NECESSITIES LIKE VODKA. I'M SKIPPING THE CLUB SCENE AND LETTING THE HOTTIES COME TO ME.
