It's Official! Gayken Abandoned By Label
As we mentioned yesterday, Clay Aiken had been rumored to be splitting from his record label, RCA.
Well, today Billboard reports that Aiken and RCA did indeed split and that he actually was dumped left the label a couple of months ago!
Looks like the American Idol reject from season two didn't do so well with his last album, On My Way Here.
The collection only sold about 159,000 in the US. By comparison, his 2003 debut album sold 2.7 million.
People got tired of the Gayken!
He did manage to extend his 15 minutes of fame much longer than most other Idols, though.
Time to retire now, maybe?

Great voice - Love him. He'll have a career on Broadway in Musicals, or in Vegas. He may not sell a lot of records, but the man can sing and I'd pay good money to go see him!

He was sooooo interesting right after Am. Idol ended that season. Either he or Rueben could have won. Clay had the best personality and was tv material, i.e. interviews, co-hosting, that is until he started acting all Diva. When he put his hand over Kelly Rippa's mouth. How disrespectful to the shows host. His coming out gay didn't help much either. He'd now better go after Vegas. Maybe he'd sell out a small venue.
I LOVE me some Clay. I saw him in Tulsa. It was pure greatness. He put on the best concert I have ever been to. He is very talented. Hopefully someone will give him a job. He needs to make some more babies with that pretty woman. Or with me! Love ya Clay!

So the other night I woke up from a dream, terrified. People Magazine has the true story, of course. From Aiken's rep:
"We were unable to come to terms in a recent contract negotiation, and decided that it was best to move on," the rep, Cindi Berger, said Friday.
