According to the Harris Poll, which gathered data online from Americans over the age of 18 with an open-ended survey, the heroes list was topped by Barack Obama, Jesus Christ, and Martin Luther King, Jr.
That's good company the new Prez is in!
Those three were followed by, in descending order, Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, Abraham Lincoln, John McCain, John F. Kennedy, Chesley Sullenberger, and Mother Teresa.

Thank you so much for the compliment. I truly love my country and it breaks my heart to see what is happening to it. The breakdown in our educational system is no accident. Back in the day Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev famously used an expression generally translated into English as "We will bury you! Of course we will not bury you with a shovel. Your own working class will bury you," a reference to the Marxist saying, "The proletariat is the undertaker of capitalism." If you have never seen the Communist Goals for America I urge you to to google them. Almost everything has come true. Also you might be interested in researching Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. Our schools no longer teach the Constitution, the Bill of Rights or how lucky we are to live in a country where, until recently, one could speak one's mind. The Constitution protects free political speech. Regarding separation of church and state the framers of the Constitution wanted to be sure we could not establish a State religion such as the Church of England or the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. They NEVER intended to remove religion from the public square. A democracy can only work in a moral society and I'm afraid I do not see too much morality in the world much less on this website. You are obviously a product of our public school systems which were commandeered and destroyed decades ago by the radicals who eventually wanted to put a Communist in the White House. If you want your children to know the truth about this country you must teach them yourselves. Please do not rely on the public schools to do it. I attended a private, Lutheran school up until college. You should work on a few things, though. I notice you bring up the left wing media. While certain newsgroups are notorious for leaning to the left, they don't ALL lean to the left. Go watch Fox News if you'd like to see a bunch of frumpy white guys talk about why immigrants will kill the country, debate Britney Spears lyrics or simply make up the news as it pops into their head — only if it sounds cool, at least. If you're so worried about politicized media (which btw, I don't know how you can complain about anything left leaning when G. W. did more to help Obama get elected than the media) you should get your news from completely neutral sources. C-span, PBS or if you are so inclined you could try and discriminate a bit. Look at fact checking websites.

Now he's a dr and has done extensive research on brain diseases and actually made some amazing discoveries. He voted for Obama, so did the rest of my drs who are in the top of their league (i am kidney transplant and have a LOT of top drs on my team)

I research the facts, nothing more, nothing less. Furthermore, my ego doesn't ride on academia or how educated I am or my IQ. In some cases, it is totally irrevelant. I'm sure Albert Einstein didn't worry about his IQ but others did!

I think there should be health care for all - health care should not be a priv. I was born with only 25% kidney function and had my first transplant when i was 12 (which lasted me a long time). Upon my graduation from college my parents bought me insurance so I can stay on my plan and have everything covered. Well guess what? Do you know how many recent-college graduates I have met that had to reject taking their medications because their job didn't offer insurance large enough to cover or medical expenses (let only our mediations). Disgusting. Then I knew a 52-year old woman who lost her job and had to reject her 3 year old kidney because the gov't wouldn't help her out with her medication. It's shameful.

What if a majority of people thought someone else should pay for their insurance? We breeding laziness under a democratic party. In your case, you should have gotten treatment without any problems and taxpayers shouldn't have a problem paying for your health care coverage. Our programs should be designed to take care of our 'own' rather than keeping other countries alive. In my life, I know countless of people who don't have insurance because it is so expensive or have pre-existing conditions. HealthNet and Blue Cross were just recently in the news with major class action laws because they turned down patients that had severe health illnesses; they were heavily fined. Trust me: the democrats are not the answer; they never are. In fact, democrats think everything they 'do' is right and never question themselves…I call this stupidity.

Democrats are only generous with OTHER people's money. The wealthiest politicians ARE Democrats. Al Gore made $100 million and was awarded a Nobel prize for the hoax of global warming. John Edwards is worth about $60 million made mostly by suing doctors and causing all of our healthcare costs to rise. Ted Kennedy, the guy who allowed Mary Jo Kopechne to suffocate in his submersed car, is worth a fortune — most of it stashed offshore to escape taxes. John Kerry is a gigolo worth a small fortune. Why don't these "compassionate" dems start an investment fund to insure the uninsured? With all of their connections it would be very easy to do. Any American, rich or poor, could contribute. That is called charity. It is done privately. It is not ordered by the government. The Dems want to make everyone in this country poor. That's why they tax us to death. They want to control everything we say and do, everything we buy and the prices we pay. This is what hard working people object to. Most conservatives seem to belong to a church or civic group that raises funds and helps out those who are truly deserving. Over the last 45 years the Dems have done nothing more than create a larger welfare base and a sense of entitlement to other people's money.
It was written yesterday that there is tension with the Brits and Iran and America is involved as well. It has to do with a nuclear pact…scary stuff. Eventually, all major nuclear issues will reach Obama and it will be interesting to see how he handles the already 'tensioned' situation. There will be other countries that 'test' America under the Obama administration. Remember: his first priority is to keep American safe.

I would like to clarify something for so many lefties who seem to hate those of us who value personal responsibility over laziness and entitlement. We do NOT want people to be denied medical care. We are just very tired of paying for it. I work for physicians in a large university affiliated medical school. As those of us in the real world know the vast majority of people on welfare and charity programs are NOT Needy. They are working the system. I see it every day. We are TIRED of paying for these cheaters! The left just doesn't get it. They are too mired in their anger and hatred to see anything other than what they want to see.
Other than being black (which he is born with not something he achieved), what has he done to gain superhero status?? I didn't know sinking our country into the biggest nonsensical debt of our history was a good thing!

Obama is truly a Marxist who believes in the redistribution of wealth which will leave you and me high and dry. He took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States but, unfortunately, wants to change it at every opportunity. I agree with Rush when he says he wants Obama to fail only because if he succeeds in what he wants to do we will be living in a Communist state. I truly do not want to see that. I wouldn't wish that on anybody. Please believe me when I tell you that most conservatives are compassionate but we prefer to help people privately or through a church or organization than through taxes. I hope that things have worked out for you and that they will continue to do so. Please remember that before this age of "entitlement" (my husband hates that word) we were all told that nothing is free (somebody always pay for those who are not paying), nobody owes you anything, nobody will give you anything, if you want something you will have to work for it, and the world does not revolve around you. Dealing with several generations of people who think otherwise is not easy.

I give most sides a chance and then decide what is best for me, my family, me neighbor and my country. I never gave Rush a 'chance' because of his hardcore addiction to painkillers; I penalize him for that. I believe that if you are a politician or in the media and representating others, you really 'work' for others; therefore, you need to have a squeaky clean background. Personally, I aspire to that idea and I am not in the eyes of the public! I want Obama to succeed because if he fails, we all fail, one way or another. If another country takes us down, it will more than likely be with a democratic president in office, not a republican. Right now as I write, I am convinced that Obama will be similar to Jimmy Carter as a president; Carter made very little impact. This nation has lived above it's means for a long time and now the bill is come due but the government is asking everyone else to "sacrifice". Everyone else is cutting back EXCEPT the government. The government, under the new admininstration just continues the same destructive policies that got us here. Borrow, print, spend, tax and repeat…the game remains the same, only the players have changed and the poor and middle class will be the ones to suffer when the dollar collapses.
