Rihanna's father, Ronald Fenty, is speaking out about the disturbing photo of his daughter severely bruised and beaten - reportedly at the monstrous hands of Chris Brown.

Ronald said in an interview today about the image that "Yeah, I saw it. It's disturbing."

However, he adds that people will now be able to "grasp the situation a lot better" after having seen the pic.

And remember, that the photo was taken before the bruises and swelling even had time to fully manifest themselves.

Who knows how badly hurt she appeared the next day!

Her dad adds, "It's good and it's bad to see the picture because there's other people who were thinking differently, that [Rihanna's injuries] may not be that bad, just a little spank or a little thing."

As for RiRi, today is actually her 21st birthday. And unfortunately, we doubt she's celebrating it the way she would have wanted to.

Her close friends placed a birthday greeting in the local Barbados newspaper saying, "Happy 21 Birthday to Robyn Rihanna Fenty. Amidst all the negativity about Ri Ri. God will continue to bless her. That's why you are so great, Ri Ri."

Sad.

    I think it's sad that the photo was leaked, because it was probably done for a big profit…However, I think by letting people see how badly he harmed her, it will hopefully encourage more people to come forward when this happens to them (rather than making them hide, for fear THIER photos will be "leaked"). I do pray that she is able to deal with this in a healthy way–and that he gets everything he deserves!

    Where's all those people who were defending Chris Brown? I was reading a lot of comments on TMZ, ripping into them about posting the picture and violating her prviacy. I'm glad they did because people can see that it was really a real thing. Not only that, but when dealing with a woman who has been beaten by someone she loves, covering for her and keeping in private WILL backfire. It reduces the stigmata acossiated with going back to that guy who is "so sorry" and is "going to change." I protected a girl friend of mine after she was beat up. That's exactly what happened. Ladies, you have to know that the only answer is to WALK AWAY!! There is no other option but still around and get beat again and again. It's a vicious cycle. I forget what celeb said it, but we are talking abuot domestic violence and I hope that helps some girls understand how serious and real it is.
