Giving hope to gay boys and girls everywhere, openly gay screenwriter Dustin Lance Black gave one of the best acceptance speeches of the evening when picking up his Oscar for Original Screenplay for Milk.

Being from the Bay Area and in High School when all this went down, Milk has a special place in my heart.
I loved Dustin's speech and how heart felt it was. So far the best moment of the evening.
Such a cutie! Too bad Texas kinda got a bad rap in his speech, though.

and think that lance made it quite clear that everyone should be able to be accepted for who they are, and he represented harvey milk, who i believe was a great political leader, i hope one day people are accepted for there sexuality, race, gender, religion, and culture.

I usually don't like it when award winners use their acceptance speech as a platform to express their own political and personal opinions, however, I found this speech to be one of the most moving and inspirational speech's of all time.
He was not only eloquent, but hopefully will be the catalyst for real change our Nation needs to believe in.

I get sick and tired of people using the oscars for politcal or sexual speeches. I watch movies to escape from reality and expect the oscars to do the same. Let me just enjoy the glitz and glamor and have the winners join in the same theme. Whenever someone goes off on a tangent about politics, or religion or sex…i say shut it. Shut your pie hole.
This guy just set your cause back by a decade P. Need to learn your place, maybe at a march or a press conference. The oscars is supposed to be fun. His speech was not fun. Not informative. He needs to get laid and shut it.

I'm from Bay Area and I'm really moved my his speech. I'm straight and I also know people who are gay, and speaking from High School student view, I have to say it really did move me. And I'm proud to live in Frisco where Milk was a pioneer. And to all the people who think politics should be in award shows and what not, deal with it, EVERYTHING is political these days.
