The Ratings Are In! Oscars Come Out On Top!!!

The ratings are in and the Oscars are #1!

Although taking the top spot was expected, the 81st Annual Academy Awards were up 10% in viewership from last year!

The awards pulled in a 22.9 rating/36 share from last year's 20.8 rating/32 share.

We'd like to think the appearances by R-Patz and Zacquisha were responsible for the ratings boost, of course!!

      I enjoyed it, Hugh did a good job - except for the dance number, that could have been cut, boring. Anticipation for the awards was hightened for sure this year. If they can keep that kind of thing up, keep it interesting, viewship will continue to increase!!!!!!!!

      I never have any interest to watch award shows. Even the people in the audience look bored (when you watch entertainment shows like "Entertainment Tonight", "Access Hollywood", etc.) Wierd!

      A preliminary measurement of the nation's biggest markets shows ratings for this year's Academy Awards went up 6 percent over last year, yet the telecast is still likely to be among the three least-watched Oscars ever.

      Nielsen Media Research says its estimate of the Oscar audience's size will come later Monday. Last year's audience of 32 million was the smallest ever measured for an Oscar telecast.

      wow, this is the first time in a long tim that an awards show didn't tank in the ratings. The show was OK, but I guess they mustve done something right.

      I alwayz watch the Oscars but this year was hugely borrrrring. Having film clips for every technical category, going on and on about the categories most of us don't care about…it was drawn out. And the tribute to Jerry Lewis? The shortest I can ever remember! I loved the glitz and gowns, and some of the touches were nice, but overall, astonished that the ratings were even that high.

      "R-Patz" is just NOT good looking and I don't know what (if anything) he's done beside Twilight. Zac is good looking and talented, but considering his body of work to date, should he really have been standing on the Oscar's stage?? I wish him the best, but his appearance seemed a little premature for this point in his career.

      Dream on, Perez. Oscar viewership was up because people don't have money to go out. Hugh Jackman was appealing to a lot of people. So was Robert Pattenson. And Kate Winslet. If you're going to pretend to be an expert Hollywood analyst, know what you're talking about first.

      Thanks to Jennifer Aniston…She is Box office golden girl. She appears, rating go up, it's a formula……The Oscars were ok, but I got bored at the end…

      Love the openning with Hugh and the way they introduced the actors nominations, mixing previous winners with the new ones was a brilliant idea. The down side of the show were the visual pkgs, they were toooooo long! Who want to see a 2 minutes pkg about special effects?…Also I did not like the stage so close to the audience, it made the show looked cheap, like they were in a 3rd class theater.

      And the fact that Sean Penn won for best actor was the last straw for me to change the channel.- That fucking communist should be in jail for treason, not receiving an Oscar…But this is just my opinion.

      it was jennifer aniston that made me watched it…I never watch the oscars, but I wanted to see Jen & John together and her presenting..It was great! Angelina is a total fake and conceited…i was watching most of her interview and most of them seems intimidated of scared of her..coz she is a total diva!!

      I rarely ever watch the Oscars or any other award ceremony, but once I heard that Robert Pattinson was going to be there I was like, Hell yes! I also watched it because I wanted to see the dresses.
