An official opening date for the Broadway incarnation of Spider-Man - the musical! - has been announced!

Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark will officially kick off on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Broadway's Hilton Theatre.

Preview performances of the show will begin Saturday, January 16, 2010.

The production will be directed by Julie Taymor, who helmed Disney's epic musical adaptation of The Lion King.

All the music for the Great White Way's Spidey production will be done by U2's Bono and The Edge.

Let's hope it's much better than the stuff that's on their new album.

The cast will be announced soon.

U excited about the show?

I remember people knocking the idea of making Disney's "The Lion King" into a musical with music by Elton Jon and Tim Rice. Same comments and ridicule.

I am a huge Spider-Man fan, and a musical could be good, but with U2 doing the music, I am sure it will suck.

      Re: Blondie10

Even has said that they've been trying to convince him for months. It sounds like he's not too exited about it. He doesn't want to give up movies for a year and he's slated to do 2 as it is.
