We just found out they're doing a remake of The Never Ending Story, and now we're learning that another classic is being remade. Yes, it's a classic!
Set to hit production almost 20 years after the original is a reworking of 1990's Total Recall, one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's best films - possibly tied with T2.
According to reports, final negotiations are taking place with Columbia Pictures to create the modern version of the movie, originally based on a story by Philip K. Dick.

Who the hell wants to see ARNOLD in anything. It's bad enough to make a remake, to put him in it as the star is silly. To answer the question, the movie makers are few and far between who do ground breaking stuff. Most of the stuff is regurgitated.
I'd be pissed because that movie doesn't even need to be remade. It was awesome, and I don't care how far we've come technology wise, it can't be topped.

I'm totally offended by remakes of classics!! Sometimes you just can't do better than what was done so why blaspheme a great original with a shitty remake?? I sincerely doubt that any remake of The Neverending Story could ever top the fabulous original.

The madness of what made it work: they had Paul Verhoven, filming in Mexico City public transportation system, off a patchwork 12th generation script originally written by the guys who did Alien, brought to life by using miniature effects and throwing Arnold, Michael Ironside, Sharon Stone, and f'n Marshall Bell and Kuato into the mix.
Long live claymation Kuato, down with remakes that don't need to be made.

Seriously Total Recall is a bad ass movie. I hope they don't ruin it. It's also one of the only movies Sharon Stone is good in.

I heard the Terminator movie coming out, from my son who is a big time action figure collector and action movie buff (and Marvel etc.) - says its a prequel. It takes us back to when John Connor is an adult..and Reese is an 18 y/o kid, when John met him.
Im not nutz about prequels either.
Some movies need to wait 40 yrs before they are remaid and SOME, even then, its a mistake. LIke Gone With the Wind, Wizard of Oz..things that were done SO well there is NO POINT in ruining it.

I meant to also say its too soon (IF EVER) for total recall but that made me think of the Terminator movie. But my son is looking forward to it. I just usually don't like prequels with none of my favs in it. Sorry for the confusion of jumping on Terminator before I comment on Recall.
