Barenaked Ladies Happy About Split With Druggie Singer!
Despite their "amicable" break up with frontman Steven Page, the Barenaked Ladies are pushing forward with a new album.
Co-founder Ed Robertson says, "We're really excited about the future. Certainly it's the end of an era, but things change and the creative process is always changing. We're really excited about getting into the studio and exploring that."
He said that even though Page's departure was neither sudden nor unexpected, "It was a decision none of us took lightly or flippantly, but it was something that had to happen for the future of the band" and "Steve still has our support, and always will have it."
How cryptic!
And while Robertson says it's difficult to see their fans "freak out," he encouraged them to "to try not to draw any conclusions yet. We're going to go in and make a great album, and we're going to go out and do a bunch of great shows. That's what we plan to do." He adds that "the new songs we're writing are great."
The band is planning on hitting the recording studio in April for a fall release and could only reveal that they are working with a "very fancy producer."

Lead singer is the only one I recognize. Without him, they'll be even less recognizable. Who cares, they suck anyway.

I never could take this band seriously, starting with their name. Their music and lyrics are so hokey and unconventional. They're like Weird Al Yankovic to me. You can tell by the fact that there's only 9 comments above mine that no one really cares.

Their music is so fucking stupid and goofy, it's hard to take them seriously when they don't themselves. I can honestly say that I don't know one person who is a fan of them.
Thanks for posting about BNL Perez - BNL has been my favorite band for 11 years. Those of us who are a part of their huge devoted fan base appreciate it. I love Ed and am really looking forward to the next album and tour!!

The fans will freak because it won't be the same. There is something special about his voice and the way is sounds when singing certain words that is a big turn on. It won't be the same.

Many of the most influential powerful people in this world play with drugs … because they can afford it … it's fun … and can you believe they do business just fine? Keep on stoning the "druggies". How can The BNL even work without page? Its silly to think that they can make it without that distinctive sound that we have come to know and love.
