Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Drew Barrymore is supposedly in the running to direct the third film in the Twilight franchise, Eclipse.

We expect nothing but smelly cheesetasticness from Drew!

For goodness sake, her directorial debut is coming at us via the roller derby caper, Whip It.

      Perez, you cant really think Twilight is truely some amazing line of film. Its loved for one reason and the Rpatz. Hes yummy but twilight as a hole is a dim story thats predictable and uninsightful.

      Oh Perez, Twilight was a completely awful make of the book (which I loved), and I'm sure New Moon is going to blow hard too. Mine as well let someone tinker with the third, since it's supposed to be out by early summer 2010, just 6-8 months after New Moon is released, it's going to suck anyway!!!

      Re: GossipGirl – The company over the movies, Summit, is already ruining these movies by pushing to get them out so fast. If they would take some time to develop the films fully, like what they did with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, then the movies would be a LOT better.       Personally, I think if Summit wants to branch out into celeb directors, they should ask George Clooney to do it. He seems like he's more interested in artistic merit and story-telling. He may be an old man, but years = experience and wisdom. These cheese factor would probably decrease by a significant degree as well, which for the third and fourth book, would be a good thing, imo.
