I am a black woman from an urban environment, and this is why I don't let my kids listen to hip hop or current r&b. This is not some poor girl without means who feels like she has no choice. Whether she likes it or not she is a role model for lots of little black and latino girls and boys and all she has done is reinforce the prevailing attitude in that community that it is fine to beat your woman, it is fine to cheat on your woman, and the only way a woman proves her worth, her "realness", the fact that she's a "down ass bitch" is to put up with as much shit as her man can dish out. That is really disappointing to see her throw away her career/image for a guy she probably won't even be with down the line. They are both very young and very rarely do you find the one you're going to spend the rest of your life with at that age. Just based on this - I'd say she's a pretty headstrong/stubborn person and she's going to do what she wants to do no matter what anybody has to say. That's cool - that's your life…"live your life" as you say. But you know what? As a consumer and parent, I have choice too and that is to support artists that my daughter can look to as positive role models. And most cases of domestic abuse it happens more than once, which was the case for my mum and she went back and it kept happening.
If she wants to be in an abusive relationship thats her business but she shouldnt expect any sympathy if it happens again. She should also think about the example she is setting her young fans - bascically shes saying its ok for a guy to hit his girlfriend because she'll forgive him and go back for more!!! SAD!!!

If this is true and they are back together, I hope she knows that she is sending a message to ALL young people that it is O.K. to be treated the way she was. She is pretty much saying that a man ( or woman) can abuse you and as long as they say they are sorry, you can take them back. If he did it once, chances are he will do it again. Next time she might not be as lucky as to walk away from it. I have been there myself and it is not a joke. One little thing can set him off and he can seriously hurt her. A few weeks of Anger Management are not going to fix his problems. The best thing she can do is walk away and gain some of her self-esteem back. It will take awhile, but most people that abuse their boyfriend/girlfriend also mentally abuse them. She may very well think no one else will want her. It is sad and I know she can't worry what others think, but she is a role model to young people. They are both sending a very bad message. They need to keep that in mind.
