Boo! Stadium Shows Suck!

It's just been revealed that U2's new world tour, Kiss The Future, will be playing stadiums around the world beginning this summer.
The tour, which is in support of their shiteous latest album, No Line on the Horizon, starts in Barcelona on June 30th and will continue worldwide into 2010.
U2's show will also include a 360-degree audience setup with a cylindrical video screen.

The Edge said, “We’re very excited about the idea to go on the road with this album. It’s an album that I think is going to translate so well to the live context. The songs we’ve tried in rehearsal are sounding fantastic, so that’s got everyone really fired up.”
Live Nation global music chairman Arthur Fogel said committing to a global stadium tour is “obviously a major undertaking on a bunch of different levels. On the last tour it basically broke down indoors in America and stadiums outside of America."
They should have done stadium shows again in the U.S.!
Adds the promoter, "Both shows were pretty different and they were both incredible, but I think the general feeling, and certainly mine, was the experience of U2 in a stadium is special and unique, and it would be great for North America to experience that the way the rest of the world did the last time around.”
Yea, and it also means they can increase capacity by about 15%-20% due to a larger venue. And considering they'll be doing potentially as many as 90-100 shows over the next two years, that's a lot of money to be made!
Estimates also have U2's tour set to become one of the highest-grossing tours ever.

If the album is as craptastic as I've heard it is, or if people have finally woken up and realized this band is friggin' horrible, then I highly doubt they'll be able to fill stadiums around here. I'm SO ready for U2 to go away! Permanently!!

For some reason, Perez does not like U2. Therefore, he thinks that everything U2 does is horrible. They are the greatest live band of our time. The new album is good because it is different than what they have done. When they play in LA and Perez finds out how many celebs are there, he will want to go.
I love U2 passionately. Not only U2 is one of the best groups of all times, but Bono is sincerely trying to make this world a better place.

Perez, I've read many reviews for U2's new album, and it seems to me you're the only one who hates it. Just because a band doesn't kiss your ass the way other celebs do doesn't mean you have to be mean to them. Have you ever been to a U2 show, Perez? It's amazing. It's time you realized that there are other talented singers/artists out there other than Lady Gaga or Katy Perry or Madonna.

As a lifelong U2 fan, I cannot wait for the tour. The boys seriously rock live!! U2 was the first band my teenage daughter saw & she was also awe-struck. The album is pretty great, Perez. Not sure why you are such a hater.
U2's latest album "No line on the horizon" is not shiteous at all. It's actually pretty good with some really good songs. The only thing being shiteous is you, Perez.
Yeah, about the U2 bashing - I love U2, they're sincerely one of the greatest rock band out there and composers and songwriters of their own stuff. Look Perez this is the first time I have made a comment, I even went through all the crap to register a user name. I am discouraged with your comments about U2. I am not sure what the personal issues you have with them, the fact of the matter is they are a great band and use their celebrity for doing amazing things around the world. A group for young and old to admire, Bono has been nominated for a Nobel Peace prize. As a long time fan of your site if the negative U2 comments do not stop I will stop logging on to your site. I realize I am one person however I think there are many out there who fell the same way.
More specifically, U2 will be playing to half-filled stadiums across the world, and losing precious money at every venue. The new album is good, but not good enough to be enormously popular. And oh by the way, there is a global recession/depression currently gripping the entire world, and minimum ticket prices for this show will be $95. Bono requires heart surgery for an aortic valve replacement, and Adam Clayton was recently caught with child porn on his computer. So you tell me how this tour is going to make any money…. Precious money determines whether music is "good" or not….
It's stupid to think that in this global economic mess that stadium shows will come even close to selling out.
Let's not act like Britney is original, she doesn't even write most of her songs, of course she is not the one that came up with the set for the tour. Plus, TONS of artists have done the 360 TV, Justin Timberlake did it at FutureSex/LoveShow 2 years ago. Let's not act like this is nothing new, and like Britney has done anything original.
