As we mentioned months ago, comedian D.L. Hughley was given his own show on CNN, D. L. Hughley Breaks the News.
Who thought that was actually going to be a good idea? We're not sure.
The show premiered on October 25th, and we've just found out it's been canceled.
We're sure it didn't help that his show was ripped apart by critics the first weekend it aired, with one columnist writing, "What the hell was CNN thinking?" The show was also said to be full of awkward interviews.
And just recently a report was released that CNN was going to cancel Hughley's show due to "budgetary constraints."
A.K.A, "You suck."
However, CNN has now confirmed the news. An official statement from the network though claims Hughley was the one who decided to end it all.
CNN said, "D.L. approached CNN about being permanently based in Los Angeles, where his family lives. To accommodate this, we agreed upon a new role where he will be a contributor for the network based in Los Angeles. We are eager to continue our relationship with D.L. who is a tremendous talent and a valued colleague."
Blah blah blah.
Bad ratings. Bad reviews. Bad show.

Really, who on earth thought he should be a person who delivers or discusses the news? CNN & MSNBC are becoming desperate to keep up w/FOX, who, on a daily basis beats their ratings combined. But I'm just saying.

I was shocked when they hired him in the first place, because he is a comedian, not a newsperson. And his comedy sucks also!

I saw this show once and I knew his ass was grass from the beginning. There is no freaking way this idiot will make it and sure enough he didn't. I'm even surprised they kept the show running this long…more like crawling because it wasn't going nowhere.

I for one am surprised. I like D.L. Hughley although his voice was a little annoying, I thought his interviews were good, informative as well as entertaining. Some of his interviews got mentioned on other programs and he usually had good interesting guests. I also like his positions, for the most part,
on politics, freedom of speech and religion, etc. I hope CNN still has a place for him, after all they gave the deranged sicko Glenn Beck his own show. Thank God HE went to the Fox Propaganda Network where he belongs.

The show is horrible… DL is a terrible fit for CNN. It was like "what the hell is he doing here with this show?"
I didn't get the show. I didn't get why CNN would give him a show, and it seemed like he had no idea where he was going with the show. It should have been cancelled a loooooong time ago……

CNN was on crack. The interviews were not only awkward, DL actually sounded dumb, not even on purpose. It was painful to watch it the few time I landed on the show while TV surfing. It's good to know some bad shows actually get cancelled and not the other way around.
This show was on the WRONG network - it should have been on Comedy Central… although it just wasn't that funny or entertaining. It was also about 30 mins too long.

D.L. laughed at his jokes more than we did. It was sooooo uncomfortable watching him. He seems like a nice enough guy, but the show really was horrible.

I thought H.L. was cool during his start in his carreer, and yes he had some landmark funny moments… but then during the show and with his comments and attitude… his name initials became:…"HUGE LOSER HUGHLEY!"…Homie get off the "Gay" and "Ghetto" jokes and slams… that shit is "SOOOO Outdated!"…especially when your hosting a supposedly "SHOW?"

It was bad. He always made himself out to not know certain things because of his culture and played that up too much….sometimes it was downright embarrassing to watch.
Awkward is the right word. You could literally feel his discomfort as he spoke on issues. Even though Hughley is a comedian, surprisingly, he's not the most engaging speaker.
I heard that MSNBC was trying to recruit Bill Maher for their network but maybe CNN should think about wooing him for their network. He's extremely sharp and is as opinionated as Bill O'Reilly except Maher is a libertarian. I just think we need voices that counter the O'Reilly's and the Rush Limbaugh's of the world - their influence on conservative culture is astounding. I don't think people on the other side of the political spectrum have the same icons.

wow its about time, I mean the guy was horrible. I watched the first episode for like 20 minutes and then changed and never saw it again. He sucks and the show sucked.
His ridiculous use of "black humor" fell flat. He was pandering, an embarrassment. Everything that came out of his mouth sounded so old, he is really out of touch. As was CNN for even entertaining this show.
