For the first time in nine years, Oprah Winfrey shares the cover of her magazine, O.
The big O has appeared solo on the cover of her mag 105 times to date!
The upcoming April issue features Super Winfrey and First Lady Michelle Obama.
Lovely!
“Say what you will about books—people do judge a magazine by its cover, which is why it’s important to me to keep the cover of this one looking fresh,” says Oprah. “And right now nothing—and I mean nothing—is fresher than the family that moved into the White House in January, sparking a national spirit of renewal the likes of which I’ve never seen.”
The April issue of O hits newsstands on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th.

Re: devil_dawg_wife – hmmm….well actually. EVERY male in my family going back to my great great grandfather has served this country in the navy. My father is still serving this country. I was have spent my life as a military brat. So I do think I am VERY qualified to speak on the subject. My father actually speaks on behalf of military personal to CONGRESS to keep jobs and bases around…….So again as I said. ANY raise at this time in our econony should be accepted with gratitude. And I can speak as someone who was also laid off due to the economy. I am fortunate enough to have a great spouse who can pick up the slack while I am school now. But by no means is it easy and we defiantely have let go of many unneeded things in our life.

My father is still serving going on 35 years. He also speaks to congress in regards to base closures to keep them open and jobs available. And as I said any raise should be taken with gratitude. Military familys recieve funds for housing, free medical care and a pay check. And when you decide to make the military your life you are well aware of the salary shortcomings. Its a choice you make freely. Being laid off because of the economy is not. Believe me I know. I am one of those hundreds of thousands. I am fortunate enough to have a great husband that is picking up the slack. We have cut back and have learned to make sacrafices. Unfortunately alot of americans do not know what sacrafice is. And always want to keep up with the Jones.

Re: SeekTruth – Not young nor naive. And I was only referring to the comment made about how the raise her husband recieved was not enough. We also can not blame this president for all the spending that is being done. Alot of the funds were allotted before he ever took office. It is a high shame that we spend so much of the tax payers dollars to help fund other countries and some other causes I am baffeled by. I am also in disbelief that tax payers dollars will be bailing out homeowners on their mortgage payments that have not been making monthly payments even if it was 1/2 of what they owed. I have always believed that the first thing you paid was your mortgage/rent. It bothers me greatly that my family will see no help from the bailout and we faithfully paid our rent. Even if it meant scraping pennies together. And as far as Michelles clothing…most of it will be sent by designers for free in hopes she will appear in public. Which in turn will be free advertising for them. SMART MARKETING strategy. And any thing gifted to the president or his family while in office they are allowed to keep. Also the Obamas are not exactly hurting for cash. He earned $4 millions dollars last year alone from the two books he penned. He also earns a salary of $400k a year while in office. And Michelle was a successfull attorney before she decided to stay at home and take care of their girls.

Do your homework by reading and it may behoove you to read through the 1,000 page 'spending' package. Otherwise, you are quoting things without knowing their sources. Even if the previous administration did everything wrong and created an enormous deficit for all of us, we don't solve current problems by creating a bigger well for the taxpayers of today and tomorrow! This is morally wrong! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand what's going on; it takes someone who seeks the origins of the problem and understand the present and the future of our economy. One last thing: the world, and currently with Dubai (Emirates), are tied to how we, in America, do: if the USA fails and goes bankrupt…it could happen, who are we going to blame it on? Bush? The bail outs? The people who got better loans? We need to address our current administration and see if they are making the problems better or worse! I think 'worse.'

No, there were many notable women that Oprah could have chosen to be on the cover of her magazine, but she chose Michelle Obama because she is the first black first lady. To me, that is the epitome of discrimination, and Oprah should be dethroned from her title as "queen of women." Such a disgrace! Please stop buying her magazine and watching her show! She doesn't really care about any of us!

wHAT'S THAT AWFUL SMELL?
Good for Oprah to share the cover of her magazine!! She is a huge Obama fan! But I think she should share the cover of her magazine with someone more often. Although the Obama family is brand new to the white house. Oh yes, Michelle Obama does look fabulous! She is so trendy with the belt. I love it!! The colors are great the fresh new colors of spring. Of course there brand new!
These two very powerful women get to take a picture and flaunt their fashion sense when America is faced with:
1) The USA has the highest unemployment rate of 8.1 in 25 years!!!
2) The stock market is down, down, down and what does this mean? The stock market is a good indicator/predictor if the economy will get back on track!!! Wall Street doesn't have much confidence in our current administration.
3) AIG has received $180 billion dollars in bail out money.
4) The average American is having to sacrifice a lot just to stay afloat.
None of the above matters because these two women have so much fashion sense, power and most of all: money. I like Oprah but she is addicted to power, fame and money…she is the wealthiest woman alive thanks to the 'average' American.
