A Worthwhile Cause

"Over one million children in Malawi are without a parent, a home or an education. Inspired to become involved, Jillian Wolstein and her family founded H.E.L.P. in 2006 with the goal of spreading Hope, Education, Love, and Protection to the children of Malawi.
H.E.L.P. has partnered with Wilderness Safaris to build schools throughout Malawi in rural areas that surround Malawi’s national parks. A generous donation from the Wolstein family allowed for the construction of the partnership’s first school, the Nanthomba Primary School, in the Machinga district near Liwonde National Park. The partnership constructed seven adjacent housing units to accommodate the Nanthomba Primary School teachers. Funds continue to be raised for books, meals, furniture and clothing for the students as well as an endowment to run the school in perpetuity. H.E.L.P. and Wilderness Safaris together are in the process of searching for land within walking distance to the village with the hope of building a secondary school in the near future.
These buildings are most beneficial to those teachers and students who are in good health. H.E.L.P. believes education and health are counterparts of one another. Strong bodies allow learning and learning promotes strong bodies. Moving forward with the power of support, the foundation has made higher yet attainable goals for 2009 to drive this belief into action. H.E.L.P. has partnered with other non-profits and the Malawian government to construct a rural healthcare clinic and maternity wing that will provide vital medical care.
H.E.L.P. has developed significant partnerships and collaborations to provide cost effectiveness and utilize organizational expertise. In addition to partnering with Wilderness Safaris, H.E.L.P. is also partnered with The Lori Leavitt Collection, Students With a Purpose, GreenWISE, Max Azria, Richard Oliver Coke, Discover Africa, MedWish International, International Partners in Mission (IPM), Zest Garden, and Brother's Brother. These partnerships strengthen the foundation’s impact and help leverage dollars toward the team’s operations. With the generosity, drive and passion of our partners and supporters, together we can continue to make a difference in the lives of children faced with so many daily challenges.
H.E.L.P. is a non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference by giving the children of Malawi Hope, Education, Love, Protection, and a chance to realize their dreams and aspirations. 100% of the funds collected by H.E.L.P. go to direct service. We are a registered 501(c) 3 non-profit organization."

great
its this related to madonna? (to the kabbalah center?)
Re: leonyx –
no this is different from Madonna's npo
Camilla Belle and Joe Jonas are seen all over town wearing H.E.L.P.'s Panthera Collection!
Ha. If you notice Perez, all your tacky posts about vapid celebs get sometimes hundreds of comments. This post which is actually about something of substance got just 4 comments. Goes to show people really do have a low, shallow mentality with only indulging their lives in trash. Sad sad sad.
this is fantastic. its a great cause and its great that you put this up on your website, because soo many people check it.
good work perez!
also, camilla belle and joe jonas may be going to africa this summer with the company it said on E! online.
any word on that?
Thanks for bringing attention to such an important and worthwhile cause. I lived in Malawi for six years and there is such tremendous need there.
Why doesn't Madonna just buy the country and save it…..give her or Angelina enough press and they'll do it.
Re: janebird – that is precisely the kind of mindless dribble we expect to read at a site called Perez Hilton, you sanctimonious fucktard…we go elsewhere for the stuff that really matters!
Re: janebird – Did you forget you are on a gossip / entertainment website you stupid twit? If you want substance find another website!! People come here for fun and celebrity entertainment, not to have to pay for yet another cause that we don't even know for sure if our donations will go to the actual source.
There a children in America that need help first.
In reply to: janebird: Thats exactly what I thought when I saw this had only got 11 comments.
Why do people care more about celebs than actual problems?
lol no u
Re: morticia13 – couldn't have said it better myself…look around, janeturd!
DON'T waste your TIME or MONEY to try to educate those who can't be educated, all they want to do is what thier parents did DO THE NASTY DAY AND NIGHT then wait for whitey to feed them until thhey could come to America with their aids/hiv infected bodies to rob our poor little Indian Shop Keepers?
AHH THANKS SO MUCH PEREZ AND EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND COMMENTS!
ITS AMAZING HOW MUCH MY MOMS FOUNDATION HAS GROWN.
YOU HAVE TO SEE THE CHILDREN FOR YOURSELFES YOU IMMEDIATLY FALL IN LOVE WITH THEM.
WERE SO GLAD WERE HELPING THEM.
THIS IS UNBELIEVEABLE HOW MUCH THE FOUNDATION SKY ROCKETED!
THANK YOU GUYSS!!!!
-MERRICK-
dear perez.
i used to think that you were doing a wonderful service by advertising some of these charitable foundations.
now i'd like to ask you to please, please do your homework. please take a good look at what these places do to the people in those communities. look past the surface and do some research on the long-term effects. it truly is horrible, and can only get worse as long as services like this are permitted to continue.
africa is unfortunate.
Re: lick – And you should also do your homework. This charity has built a school and a hospital and has endeavored to teach the residents of a community skills to help them build a sustainable lifestyle for themselves instead of giving them handouts.
EVERY country has orphans, not just Malawi…what makes them so special???
Thanks Dagnyh! H.E.L.P. serves over 60,000 people and there are over 2500 students that H.E.L.P. helps EVERYDAY so they may one day live on their own without H.E.L.P. that is the point of NPOs to give help to realize their skills and then leave to community to help themselves! This is a great org with a GREAT cause. If you have a problem with them helping children in Africa maybe you should start YOUR own NPO and help your neighbors! ever think of that????
THANKS DAGNYH!
WE REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
SERIOUSLY WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR LIVES AND WERE PROUD OF IT NOT ASHAMED.
just to clarify for those of you that don't believe in what HELP is doing. 90% of the money used has come from the founder's own money not donations from others. She does this as a volunteer, and doesn't take a salary. What HELP is trying to do is advocate for children who have no voice. Their parents have died, their government can't provide for them and they are forgotten in the world. It is every child's birth right to an education and health care. HELP is working to empower these kids so that they can speak for themselves. I would encourage anyone who isn't sure where the money goes or what HELP is doing, to go to the website and see for themselves.
