Good news finally in the whole Rihanna vs. Chris Beat Her Down saga!
According to RiRi's lawyer, Donald Etra, the 21-year-old singer could be testifying against Brown in the felony assault case.
He said, "She is planning to do everything that the law requires her to do. If she is required to testify, she will do so."
Let's hope she does testify.
But, even more importantly, let's hope she tells the truth on stand! And that she doesn't "accidentally" leave out any important details.
Etra added, "The fact is, Rihanna desires that it be quick and expeditious. She wants to get back to her life and her career."
But, the attorney was tight-lipped when it came to the matter of Brown and Riri getting back together. To which he said, "That is best addressed to his attorney. It would be inappropriate to comment on the nature of their relationship.”
Oh, and the reports that Riri might be preggers? He says, "We are not going to discuss that. Rumors are gossip. There is no point. Idle rumors are gossip, for which there is no basis."
But, what we really wanna know is: DID THEY GET MARRIED?????????

Under california law she dosen't have to testify (which I doubt she will) but the police don't need her to testify at all to go forward in the case the case.

I don't think they are married. If I'm not mistaken, you don't have to testify against a spouse and they can't make you. It happened in my area with a murder trial. This guy shot another guy in the back of the head. His girlfriend witnessed the whole thing and to prevent testifying against him….she married him.
Sounds like Rihanna has Battered Wife Syndrome, she is mentally illl and needs help. She must be extremely insecure and suffered emotional abuse which is what cases BWS. Most women in her situation end of either killing their partners or getting killed
Her label and lawyer are making a huge mistake by allowing her to have any contact with Chris. If they care about her career they need to keep her away from him 24/7! She needs to be in isolation with only family members, friends and her team around her, and she needs major counselling. If they did that for like 3 months she might be okay. Then afterwards they should get her to be the face of some "battered womens" charity, thus making her a national hero which would mean women would love her, and her new album would sell like hot cakes.
The people managing her career are not doing the above and ultimately her career will suffer. No parent will buy her album for their child now and people have lost respect for her. Rihanna needs her parents to be with her instead of being all up in Barbados! Theyre abscence is probably the reason why she became so close with Chris in the first place.

Rihanna's lawyer seemed rather friendly with Brown in the court room video. E! Talk played the audio with Etra asking Brown how he was, and Brown replied "okay". Brown then said he didn't understand what was happening. Etra replied, "Don't worry, Mike (Brown's lawyer) will explain it to you later." I suspect that both sides have agreed on a deal and that this will never go to trial, which is why Etra is making such a reassuring statement.
So, she's only going to testify "if she is required to"? Pathetic

Re: Jessi B – The law is not that a spouse cannot testify against a spouse. The law is that the state / federal government may not force (via subpoena) a spouse to testify against a spouse. In other words, a spouse may refuse to testify, and there is no penalty - a non-spouse may not refuse without facing severe legal consequences (jail for contempt of court).
So, Rihanna's attorney saying that she'll testify if the law requires is not saying much - she has to, unless she wants to be put in jail, should she be subpoenaed. However, given that the lovely couple has reconciled (nausea), the state likely won't call her to testify, because she won't be a very good witness on their behalf - she may try to sway the jury in favor of Chris, and they wouldn't want to give her that opportunity … they / the state will likely just rely on the photographic evidence and statements made at the time of the incident, which are more powerful than Rihanna under these circumstances.

Perez, this came out following that hearing on the 5th. Rihanna and Chris are not married. "She will testify…etc." OK? The marriage rumor started after someone in Chris' camp said they could stop her if they got married, bcz she couldn't be forced to testify against her husband.
Understand something. Chris is desperate and he is pissed off at Rihanna for giving the cops his name. First thing he asked her assistant at 1 A.M. that morning, was "Did she give them my name?" Chris has been trying to work on her and so have his buddies. That is why the protection order gives her permission to tape him. My guess is she'll also tape people acting on his behalf. I hope Oprah and Tina Turner, Beyonce, and Jay-Z are helping her. I admire her. All the rumors are coming from Chris' camp and his PR people, not her. She's allowing him to give the impression they are back better then ever, but it ain't. His career is damaged and now she knows hers will be too, if she gives in to him.

Under Californian Law a victim of domestic violence does not have to testify, good old Arnold passed a law on that some time recently apparently… so yes it will be very interesting to see if she does testify (but as well it all depends if the case is going to be one of domestic violence or just assault)… but I mean personally I think the fact that she is even back with him says A LOT… she's obviously in denial of the situation and is living in dream land… she as well obviously is still very in love with him.
I think if she does not testify against him, she is just as sick him… this case is now far more than just the situation between them it is now about domestic violence in general and finally we have someone (Rhianna) who has the opportunity to now speak for these silent women (and men) and to be a voice of the domestically abused and hopefully inspiration and encouragement for them…

YES they CAN require her to testify as long as he isn't her husband! If she is subpoenaed to testify and she doesn't she can be charged with contempt of court, but a wife cannot be forced to testify against her husband. My hope is that she will to send a strong message to everyone, especially her young female fans that violence against women is inexcusable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances!!
