She Just Jinxed It For Herself!
As we mentioned last month, rumors have been percolating that Drew Barrymore is supposedly in the running to direct the third film in the Twilight franchise, Eclipse. You know, cuz she's such a great director and all!
But, now, we come to find out the horrific news is true. Sort of.
Turns out Barrymore is one of the people being considered for the position. In fact, she confirmed the shiteous news herself.
In a recent interview, Barrymore said "I'm one of the directors that is being talked about, which is great, because I'm a director now. But, you know, they'll make their choice."
Just because you direct a film or two, doesn't really make you qualified to be a director for such a highly anticipated flick!!!!
Barrymore recently directed Whip It! starring Ellen Page, which is due in theaters this year. Let's see how that one turns out. And if she does get picked, let's hope she doesn't ruin the movie!

Re: Maltipoo – Chris Weitz will still be in post-production from New Moon when Eclipse will have to start filming, so he can't direct it.
I also heard from hisgoldeneyes.com that Drew Barrymore directing it was only a rumor and that Chris Weitz brother, Paul Weitz might be directing Eclipse.

Highly anticipated??!!??? The first one was, as you would say, majorly "shiteous"! If it wasn't for the fact that it is a great series I wouldn't even bother with the sequels.
Given that we know how much it sucked; YES it could use a new director…but why Barrymore? These films need to be "re-vamped" by an experienced director who will not proceed to, accidently or otherwise, butcher another great tale.

Any movie based on this lame series is going to suck in anyone's opinion except for the tweens, lonely, fat queens and bored single gals who have hard-ons for Robert Pattinson. I'm very apprehensive about her directing such a hugh sequel. She should do a few more low budget/ smaller films before jumping in with both feet. If I were a distinguished director I would be insulted to know she was in the running with me for directing!

WRONG, Perez! Drew has her own production company and has had for years. She has successfully produced a number of films. that were commercial successes. Ellen Page is a fine actress and she has credibility.. No one asked how many movies Zack Snyder directed before he did "300!" They bankrolled him to the tune of more than $60million for that movie and he brought it home a commercial success. They were so thrilled, they gave hmi Watchmen which is shiteous. A total crap fest. We couldn't sit thru it this weekend it was SO awful. And please remember. Mel Gibson directed Braveheart. I believe it was his first directoral effort. I think Drew will do a fine job. I love Drew Barrymore and while I was sorry they removed the other woman director, I would be comforted if they pick Drew. Don't worry. She knows exactly what she is doing.

Drew is not directing Eclipse. A statement from summit says that chris weitz brother will be directoring Eclipse and suppose to be more talented than his sibbling. They wanted to keep the same production style and they both work together in their own production company, Chris will be so to say editing new moon while his brother starts Eclipse. Rest to sure chris will be involved in Eclipse some way or another.
I think they're just milking it! And bringing more stars to the movie, regardless of whether its actors or a director, = $$$$$$$! It's not Drew's fault, its Summit entertainment!

I really enjoyed the series and have read it more than once.. so I do follow the films and have as much a right to an option as anyone. The bitter sweet with loving the stories is that pang of interest all things "twilight" it's just part of being a dork to the franchise. One can never expect the movies to as good as the book, it just seldom happens.. so I am not on a rampage.. but the movie just wasn't even close for me…yet I can enjoy a pretty face filling in for Edward like the rest of 'em..
I merely think it's silly to attack directorial choices when I don't think at this point it matters at all who directs it.. they just care about getting them out there and getting paid. And hey, I loved "about a boy" should be really interesting to see what'll happen.
