No Doubt Give Ticketmaster The Middle Finger
Recently reunited No Doubt are taking a note from The Boss and are attempting to cut out ripoff-extraordinaires Ticketmaster from their tour!
Tickets went on sale for the band's upcoming tour last Saturday, but the group gifted fan club members with first dibs on the best seats in the house!
No Doubt were granted 10% of the tickets for each show and sold them directly through their website, completely bypassing Ticketmaster's outrageous service charges.
"The impetus is to have people who want to be in the building to be the people buying the tickets — not speculators," Jim Guerinot, No Doubt's manager, tells reporters. "We've done it before and it works."
Fan club members were required to pay a $15 dollar fee, but with the charge came access to the band's entire digital audio catalog as well as stickers, magnets, and iron-ons promoting the new tour!
Love it!
More bands should take notice and stick it to the ticket monopolists!!

You are stupid. The tickets still went THROUGH Ticketmaster. It doesn't matter for each show the artist gets a share of their tickets. Because ticketmaster is the ticketing agency for that show all tickets would be through them. Any of the tickets for a show through them will have their logo. They just decided to give their share to the fan club. This is a NON STORY Just trying to bring drama for no reason.
Ticketmaster has been an evil entity for as long as I can remember. Any time Big Business gets involved in anything, no matter what it is, it gets ruined, stomped on by the Trumps of the world.
Ticketmaster sucks balls.
They charge a 'convenience fee' for EACH ticket order for ordering online. They should be DISCOUNTING for the self-service. What do they do?

Oh they can charge an extra fee but Ticketmaster can't? Don't fall for this…they're just being greedy. If they weren't such a known band, they wouldn't be able to do this. They'd be hoping Ticketmaster could sell their tickets.

LOL Sounds like a lot of spinning to me. I didn't get tickets to No Doubt b/c they're charging $90.00 for their top ticket; 2 tickets would cost over $200. No gracias, I like them but not enough to spend that much.

i got tickets for their concert up by buffalo through livenation and for two tickets i paid close to fifty dollars of fees so it is not just ticketmaster
i got front pit at a large ampitheatre in indy. every other time i tried to get tix there i got way in the back pavilion. nd is my fave band ever and this is going to be a great moment of my life! screw ticketmaster…there will be real fans where they belong
and my tix were only 80 a piece…they are going for over a grand on ticketmaster and other ticket sites…so yes nd did the right thing!
The Dixie Chicks have done this with their last two tours. Not only does it promote people to buy the CD's earlier, (because they were given a special code which gave them access to early ticket sales) but they also got first dibs on some of the best seats in the house.
Hence why I got floor seats during their last show!

I didn't think LiveNation was too bad. I got my tix from them $80/ea for 11 rows from the stage. Ticketsnow.com which is run by fucking Ticketmaster wanted $198 for a single ticket that was over twice as far away, rediculous!

Yeah, LN isn't as bad as ticketmaster. I was just happy to get semi-decent tickets through a radio presale.
Ticketmaster STILL doesn't have the No Doubt Show on their site for the show where I live so I don't really know how people are going to get them if they didn't go through livenation.
LiveNation sucks too..I am in a wheelchair and tried to get tickets to see a comic act…I wasn't able to order online. They were to call me back…never did. They fucking missed out on 200 dollars in ticket sales.

I could only attempt to buy tickets for the arizona show in the presale, both ticketmaster and www.nodoubt.com and the link to livenation DOES NOT show the arizona date of 5/23/09. not on both my home computers or my work computer. WTF, oh well thats money in my pocket

Meh. I know of several bands that give their fans first dibs on reserved tickets. That is in no way giving the middle finger to Ticketbastard. Giving the middle finger would be to not have any tickets be sold through Ticketmaster, period. Of course, if they did that then it would limit the venues they would be able to play in because those A LOT of venues have contracts with Ticketmaster.
Damnit, Pearl Jam tried to do away with Ticketmaster 15 years ago and it didn't work. The only way Ticketmaster will be "defeated" is if the gov't steps in and says enough with the monopoly and greed.

I "joined" the club, which is NOT a fan club, its the tour club. I went to the website on the day the tickets were to go on sale, went to my city to get my tickets, you have to pay $15 for the club, $80 per ticket, $15 service charge and $7 each for the ticket processing fee . . the no doubt site will take you directly to ticketmaster. so whoever you got that info from Perez is full of shit. I know the band gives their entire catalogue for "free" when the tickets are purchased but its still not worth no fucking over $100 per ticket!

But no, they cost just as much as the premium seats, which is ridiculous. I'd prefer cheaper tickets than getting their entire catalog for "free", especially since I have all their CDs already -__-

Did nobody actually read this?! They still charged fifteen dollars extra! Which comes out to the same exact price through the ticket sellers. They are smart, because they are tricking you into thinking you are paying less, when you are paying the same amount and they are recieving more money by doing so. No money is being saved, ticketmaster still makes the same amount and No Doubt makes a little more than they would have.
I feel like people are being so ridiculous. If you want to see a show bad enough, quit your bitching and pay the extra ten bucks that you are just gonna spend on a big mac and some french fries anyways.
