No Doubt Give Ticketmaster The Middle Finger

wenn32894gwen.jpg

Recently reunited No Doubt are taking a note from The Boss and are attempting to cut out ripoff-extraordinaires Ticketmaster from their tour!

Tickets went on sale for the band's upcoming tour last Saturday, but the group gifted fan club members with first dibs on the best seats in the house!

No Doubt were granted 10% of the tickets for each show and sold them directly through their website, completely bypassing Ticketmaster's outrageous service charges.

"The impetus is to have people who want to be in the building to be the people buying the tickets — not speculators," Jim Guerinot, No Doubt's manager, tells reporters. "We've done it before and it works."

Fan club members were required to pay a $15 dollar fee, but with the charge came access to the band's entire digital audio catalog as well as stickers, magnets, and iron-ons promoting the new tour!

Love it!

More bands should take notice and stick it to the ticket monopolists!!

Down with Ticketmaster!!!

I bought 2 tickets for London, Ontario, Canada and I didn't have to go through Ticketmaster. Pretty Fantastic! Can't wait!!!

    2. 102

Awesome, I wish all my favorites would boycott Ticketmaster too. They suck, and are part of the reason I can't afford tickets. When you're buying multiples it adds up. Fuck Ticketmaster.

there has to be another option to tm. the extra charges blow. it's like airfares. you think the airfare is $129 one way, then when you go to check-out you find the taxes and airport improvement fees, gas, blah, blah, have jacked up the ticket to $169. so a big boo and spit on tm. if only all events sold their tix like no doubt or if another on-line ticket agency came along and charged only $2.00 extra for the ticket no matter how or where you pick it up.

    7. 107

Ticketmaster sucks ass. I am a old school, Orange County ND fan, back we we used to pay $8 to see them in clubs. I went on TM to get tickets for the show in ATL -almost $400 for four ticket in nosebleed. I was really put out because I was going to make this my daughter's 1st concert, and now that I've gotten her all worked up, how fun was it to tell her that we can't go because ticket prices equal almost a month and a half worth of groceries? How fun to you think that was? All I have to say is shame on ND to let their ticket prices skyrocket in economic times like this. I love them all dearly - they were a big part of my 'teenagehood', but after the million that they have made, couldn't they cut us 'normal people' a break? Everyone has to make money, but they have more money than I will EVER make in my entire nursing career. Us 'regular folks' are counting pennies and working unreal, backbreaking overtime just to make ends meet. And that blows.

Now I'm kicking myself for not joining the fan club.

Barry Diller is the asshole supreme behind Ticket Fuckmaster. When he lands in hell (and there is no doubt that he will), Satan no doubt will have the worst and hottest seat in the house for him AND he'll have to pay surcharges for this honor!

      live nation sucks too
i bought 2 tickets to an event from them today
and they charged me $25 in service charges on 2 tickets
      bastards.

      no doubt sucks live.
and the fan club thing always happens with all bands…
i don't really know why this is a big deal.

      Re: Mistress – G'day mate!

    29. 129

Not True! I bought tickets for the Chicago concert. Almost front row so I paid 80 bucks each plus a $14.50 "surcharge" for each ticket purchased.

    30. 130

I ended up paying about $250 for two tickets. Great seats but still!

    31. 131

Quite a while ago Garth Brooks did the exact same thing, only he put a limit on the amount promoters could charge for the tickets in the first place!
Garth realized that his fan base were the real hard working middle class or even the lower middle class adn he wanted them to have the right to a great night out as well as all the spoiled rich people.

      Kudos to No Doubt!
Where do I find their itinerary?

    33. 133

I wish you didn't use the word "gifted" their tickets to their fan clubs. They took their tickets and sold me and added a $15 fee for what access to a database with stickers? How old do they think their fans are?

    34. 134

Re: ventchik – Unfortuantely, these ticket sellers only think about the bottom line, I work in my own retail store in rural Nevada, when my customers come in, they get free wrapping, they get their bags carried to their car, they get friendly service and discounts, just because I feel like it that day!
Some people might say I won't make any money doing this, but I'm still alive in retail, in a poor economic time in a very depressed town in NV. I have a web store and i am fighting tooth and nail to make it. I love giving to my loyal customers! It's my heart! Plus it is a childrens store and they're my heart!

      Re: rhmama76

That's because no one but broke smelly hippies listen to 'Wide Spread". They have to gouge you out with ticket prices to pay for the ol' cheeba cheeb.

    37. 137

My mom totally got scammed by ticketmaster in Canada when buying tickets for Britney Spears. Hate them!!

    38. 138

Bravo to them. Ticketmaster just comobined with LIve Nation, which will give them even more of a monopoly. I will drive 20 miles to the venue, before I'd give those greedy bastards a dime.

    39. 139

pearl jam's ten club has been doing this for years

    40. 140

More artists should do this!! Our fees through ticketmaster were just under $25!! Total bullshit!

    41. 141

That's awesome! More bands should do that….as well as sports teams. TicketMaster sucks.

      Re: SheHasBigBoobs

No Doubt hardly has not good songs, oops edit, no song is bad.

    45. 145

So…10% of the tickets went to "people who want to be in the building". Sounds as if that leaves 90% to be purchased by speculators. No Doubt didn't accomplish shit with this publicity stunt.

    46. 146

90% of the tickets are still going through Ticketmaster so I don't really see how they gave them the finger. Not using a ticket company would be giving them the finger, duh!
