This 24-Year-Old Mother Of Three Was Also Shot To Death By Police This Week

While Alton Sterling and Philando Castile's tragic deaths have recently captured the country's attention, they weren't the only people killed by authorities this week, let alone this year.

In fact, at least 569 Americans have been shot to death by police so far in 2016, including Melissa Ventura, a 24-year-old who died on Tuesday.

According to multiple reports, two sheriff's deputies in Yuma County, Arizona were responding to a domestic disturbance call on the evening of July 6 when the mother-of-three opened the door and lunged at the officers with a kitchen knife.

It's true that Melissa did attack the deputies, but many people are questioning why two grown men were unable to disarm a woman so much smaller than them without the use of lethal force.

Following the incident, an obviously upset Tiffany Ventura spoke to local station KYMA about her sister's death, saying:
