Spanish Horror Director Joins The Race For Eclipse

Spanish director and Guillermo Del Toro apprentice, Juan Antonio Bayona, has joined the pool of candidates to direct the third Twilight installment, Eclipse, although Summit won't confirm anything. The also includes Paul Weitz, Drew Barrymore, and James Mangold.
The selection of Bayona would signal a genre shift for Twilight toward something darker, which suits the book's murder mystery plot.
We don't care if they choose a chimpanzee to direct, just as long as it isn't Drew!
Although really, a rock could direct the movie, and the tweenagers would still come in drones!

I love Guillermo Del Toro's work. It would be interesting to see what his apprentice would do with the series. But it still would not make the actual movie very interesting.

"Murder mystery plot" is a completely inaccurate description of Eclipse!
I love Drew, but I think she should stick to lighter fare. Anyone who has Guillermo Del Toro's stamp of approval is the man (or woman) for this job.

This dude -BAYONA- directed "The Orphanage", wich is such an awesome old school horror movie , the movie is set in an spanish island with an orphanage in , where this lady grew up, she buys the property and plans on installing a center for kids with special needs, everything changes when her own kid dissapears, a creepy old lady comes up and the lead leady begins being chased/tortured by ghosts kids … CREPPY AS HELL MOVIE

I think Bayona would be a great pick! Give the movie a darker more adult feel. Hopefully make a less shiteous Twilight series installment.
what do you have against her? You have yet to see anything she has directed.. and when it comes to producing, yes, for the most part it's lighter.. but it doesn't mean she doesn't have other things in her. "Donnie Darko" would not have been made if it wasn't for her.. she pulled that out of the scripts and pushed to make it what it was. That isn't to say anything for her directing capabilities but she may have the potential in her.
And yes, ANYONE could direct it and people would go.

I´m not a reader of the saga. I went to see the movie though, since I´m a buff for all things vampire… I thought the movie was WAY teenage driven. I didn´t like it much. Since when can vampires stand in the daylight? Why would an ancient supernatural being bear idiotic high schooling? And… the romantic parts are just barf!
On the other side, Pattinson is very handsome and so is the "vampirical father figure". If directed by someone who can really give the film an edge it could become something adults would enjoy. Like Interview with a Vampire (but then that was Anne Rice plus Neil Jordan…)

Anyways you don't know if Drew can or can not direct, she has been in the business way longer than you and she was succesful as a producer before so under the right direction I have no doubts that she will do a decent job… if you are sooo pro this spanish guy why don't you research on what movies he directed and if any of them where viewed in the US so we can have better info on who he is… yeah i know that's the job of a real journalist…

perez its confirmed that paul weitz is directing eclipse. he's the brother of chris weitz, who is directing new moon. paul is producing new moon, while for eclipse they will switch roles, with paul directing and chris producing.
