Star Trek To Get Retro Makeover?

Good news!
Pushing Daisies creator and former Star Trek writer and producer, Bryan Fuller, is hoping to work on a new TV installment of our favorite space voyagers.
There hasn't been a new reincarnation of Star Trek since 2005.
In an interview, Fuller said, "I told my agent and told the people of J.J. Abrams' team I want to create another Star Trek series and have an idea that I’m kicking around. I would love to return to the spirit of the old series with the colours and attitude. I loved Voyager and Deep Space Nine, but they seem to have lost the ‘60s fun and I would love to take it back to its origin."
Fuller said he believes that Star Trek got too "cold" as it was reborn again and again, with "Enterprise…the most sterile of all of them." Fuller said he would like to return to the original spirit of fun from the 60s.
Just as long as he promises to bring back the outrageous polyester uniforms, blue eye shadow, and cheap special effects!

The second Star Trek movie was OK. The rest kinda sucked.

Isn't the new movie a re-boot or re-imagining or a re-tread or whatever?? Leave it the fuck alone. ST overstayed it's welcome and paid the price. Invent new and exciting shows\movies! The creative minds are out there… trying to get your attention! Please let them in!!
What killed Star Trek was when they took the "hope" out of Star Trek. One of the producers said that with DS9 and what followed it, they wanted to show the universe as dangerous, and that the technology could be a henderance and not something helpful, and this killed Trek.
TOS and Next Gen, technology worked and brought about discoveries and knowledge in the end, and hope that things could be better in the brave new world of the future. No one wants to watch tv to be depressed. If Trek goes back to those principals that the future can be something to hope for and full of new discoveries, then it has the chance for a comeback

I loved Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me, and Pushing daises. Plus, it's pretty obvious that he carried Heroes during the first season. As soon as he left to do Daises, the quality of the show plummeted off a cliff.
However, I absolutely hated DS9. Granted, he didn't work on it (except for two episodes), but he says that it's his favorite version. BLAH. Star Trek should be about aliens, gadgets, and new discoveries, not about politics and and emotional problems.

They might take it back to the original look, but I bet they ruin it with tons of hand held shots and constant close-ups. Some shows are just unwatchable…. you feel like screaming at the camera guy… "will ya hold the damned camera still for gods sake".
The thing I liked about the original show was they worked really well as an ensemble of actors. You could leave a long-shot on the entire group, seeing them from head to toe, and they knew how to act and make it believable without resorting to using a close-up, hand held shot on every scene.

I am a huge trekkie and this sounds sooo exciting UNLESS it's a freakin prequel. I AM SO SO SO SICK OF PREQUELS!!! SICK SICK SICK!! I watch Star Treck to see things move forward not backward. Stop doing prequels and get on with moving ahead!!
