J. Lo Smacked With Lawsuit!

Some people are just too sue-happy!
A lady in North Carolina has decided to sue Jennifer Lopez, Jane Fonda, and the others associated with the film Monster-in-Law .
Sheri Gilbert, of Raleigh, is claiming they stole her script.
On Thursday, Gilbert filed the copyright lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Raleigh.
She says that the movie is too similar to the script she wrote back in 1998,, based on her own problems with her mother-in-law.
Really? Like everybody else????????
Gilbert claims she and her husband are owed part of the $155 million the movie has made worldwide.
Crazy!
An attorney for Warner Brothers says the movie characters are not that unusual and is asking the lawsuit to be dismissed.
We agree.
Unless she has concrete evidence they stole it from her, a movie about a crazy mother-in-law isn't really unique!

and honestly, shes like 8 years late.
Stupid woman, and she should be sueing the writers of the film not the actors.
WTF this flick was released ages ago!
Its not like the story was ground-breaking…stupid slut
apparently the recession is hitting her household hard?
That lady saw this seasons Lword and is trying to bank some money$. Lesbo is lying.
4 f—ing real… gimmie a beak
All she has to do is prove she submitted the script directly to someone connected with the production offices of any of the producers, director, stars or sometimes even just the studio readers. My book was submitted to studios and 6 months later there were several tv shows with a similar theme — which could be directly tracked back in paper to the studios.
i hope she has to pay up bc j lo is majorly annoying . . .
you get that 155 million id be pissed
This movie is years old, did she just see it now?
wow how long ago did that movie come out? and she is just now taking action?
that movie is like my life story!
took her a while to notice…
my favorite thing about this movie is that both michael vartan & jlo's exes married one another after dumping the two of them.
i bet that was the pink suede elephant on the set! lol
burn.
If it were my script I would keep quiet about it, because - let's face it - this was not a very ingenious plot.
Re: carolineyy – oh yes, that's always a good reason to pay some poor broke ass bitch some money she isn't even entitled to. you're a smart one aren't you? rhetorical queston.
Re: rhoniluv – Michael & Jho should hook up
How lame is your life if you wait this long after the movie has been out AND you sue the actors not the screenwriter….
im watching that movie right now! lol im at the part where the mother moves in and pretty much drives jlo crazy
So what, it took Retard from Raleigh four years to figure out the similarities?
Dumb Ass, times are tough all over, but try getting a second job, not sue someone!
funny, since that movie came out years ago.
wow.
I feel like suing everyone associated with "Monster In Law". I still resent the one hour and forty minutes of my life that I wasted watching this piece of crap.
umm so i'm guessing this lady caught the movie on TBS a few weekends ago and decided suing them would be a great economic stimulus package for herself. this movie is 4-years-old and most people have mother-in-laws that are monsters. good luck, lady.
and the little sue-happy person is crying about this years after the movie was released…puh-lease
What an idiot. This movie came out like ages ago. She's probably suffering big time from the recession, and she's trying to find a way for some extra cash. Sorry honey, none of us are buying it.
I have a crazy MONSTER-In- Law but i'm not about to sue them. that's stupid and it will get dismissed!!!
Wow, this movie is almost ten years old and I live in Raleigh! haha…
They had nothing to do with the scirpt..The ladsy is sueing the wrong ppl.
GOOD !!!! Anyone that works with Jane (I hate America) Fonda should be screwed. Wait, she is a wet-back, they don't know better.
wasn't monster in law a book!?
Good! cant stand this dumb ass bitch.
j.lo and jane fonda didn't write it…why sue them??? that's so stupid.
Who the fuck would want credit for that piece of shit movie? It sucked shit-caked ass.
Well, script ideas are stolen all the time in Hollywood, so I wouldn't be surprised in the least.
I'm telling ya, with this whole economic crisis, people are desperate do get something out of anything and i guarantee that crime rate of every sort will rise to catastrophic levels if people don't get what they want.
Wow, who would want to claim ownership for that? It was typical hollywood, it was ok, not terrible, but definately not all that original.
oh bs who doesnt have problems with the mother in law there are prob a thousand scripts like that
Saw it, liked it. too late lady.
tht is totally fuckin dumb
Sue-happy? Maybe.
What if they did lift the idea? She'll have to prove it in court.
Things disappear from you in Hollywood if you haven't nailed them down.
People take the money and run.
They can pick the case apart and decide if there's any merit.
What if they did take her script? Warner Bros. only defense is that it's a generic movie? Come on chief, they're trying to treat us all like were stupid, so that we'll gang up on this woman. From this story, she's not claiming that she's suing b/c it's a mother in law movie! She's most likely suing b/c they are doing the same thing in the same way that she expressed it in(i.e."similarities are more than a coincidence" ). I bet you she's suing Warner Bros. and b/c J-Lo and J-Fo were in it the Reporter used their names to catch a headline!
Oh the original article says that she wrote it in 1998, and copyrighted. The move came out in 2005, HMMMMMMMMM
