He isn't in control anymore, he is basically on an allowance from Playboy. Playboy isn't making that much money anymore, and a lot of his wealth was stock in the company. Again, the stock isn't doing well. Why do you think you haven't heard of any major parties at his mansion lately? the company put him on a severely restricted budget.

This may be a good time for Playboy to go back to the future, so to speak. While we normally think of Playboy as all about the tits, he's slapped some very, _very_ good investigative reports, literary criticism and political commentary into the mix - not to mention a good dose of short fiction. It's not just for whacking material that Playboy's been in business for so long. Going back to its roots, along with models that aren't your typical skanks and photography that will make American Photo fold up its tent in shame, and Playboy can go on for another fifty years, fully justifying the price you pay for it when all around you is free crap porn.
