Roseanne says a lot of things. She says a lot of outrageous things and she says a lot of stupid things, and sometimes she says something really insightful.
In her blog Roseanne proposes that Rihanna is part of her own problem because she is just as "violent" as Chris Brown.
According to Roseanne, Rihanna "thinks she has him right where she wants him now. His career is over, and he is working her to help him get it back. She thinks that since he needs her and has shown some contrition, that she can call the shots now. Violent people are control freaks, and she thinks she is in control right now. Violent couples also have passionate make up sex, and that keeps a lot of battered and beaten women hooked. Once she realizes that her fans and their parents are going to write her off completely and end her career as well as his if she stays with him, that might convince her not to do that."

She adds, "Her publicists and agents and lawyers and producers are all telling her not to risk she and brown's tandem endorsements (they don't care if she lives or dies, as long as they get their money). She is being played and used and isolated from her father. Her greed and her participation in violence, plus not wanting to cross Diddy, who wants her to put her life on the line, are powerful lures to stay in hell with a monster. I hope she lets go of her need to control other people. I hope she thinks about the horrifying message she is sending to young women and young men. She will never survive choosing brown over her dad."

Roseanne is right about most of what she writes. However, I think that sex has little to do with it, it's about lack of self-esteem for Rihanna and about controlling Rihanna for Brown. That is what abusive relationships are all about. Obviously her friends have already expressed concern over her going back to Brown, and rightly so and her Dad is concerned, too, which means something is still very wrong in that relationship.
Finally, why the heck did Diddy have to get involved in bringing them back together? If I ever had any respect for the guy, I've totally lost it now.

I think that everyone is forgetting one thing when judging Rhianna - she is only 20 years old!!! She is probably making more money than she ever thought she would, and you can believe that people in 'control' are holding that over her head and scaring her into thinking she will be poor tomorrow if she goes against what they are saying. This could be the reason for the isolation from family as well.
Money is a powerful tool, especially when used against someone so young. I, personally, feel bad for her.

You've written the truest comment about this issue. Battered women's syndrome happens across class boundaries and intellectual boundaries. You would be just as likely to find a woman with a PhD going back to her abuser, as you would a woman that has been a golddigger her whole life.
Battered women are characterized as remaining in their relationships through fear of retaliation and helplessness. I would not say that anyone who is feeling coerced and helpless is really making a "choice" to stay in a relationship; how can you say it is choice if they feel threatened? People keep blaming Riri for her own abuse, and this is so typical for battered women's syndrome - or abuse against women in general (take rape for example). In most cases, the blame is always alleviated from the abuser, and placed neatly unto women (be it the victim herself, or the abuser's mother). Yes, violence is never the answer, and yes Riri struck out first, and if Brown had simply struck back than I would say they were equally abusive. That wasn't the case. Brown was totally out of line, and should be charged with aggravated assault. It is absurd that people would argue both Riri and Brown were equally abusive in that situation. Don't tell me that the degree of assault doesn't matter; because in the USA, it most certainly does. It is even worse that people are arguing she got what she deserved.
I was watching some program when this whole thing started. The stars were all poor RiRi. But only one would say anything about Chris, Roseanne. maybe most people out there know what the real story is.
