Actor Ron Silver Passes Away

West Wing alum, actor Ron Silver, passed away Sunday of cancer at the age of 62.
A rep says "died peacefully in his sleep with his family around him."
The Emmy-nominated actor had been battling esophageal cancer for the past 2 years.
Besides an acclaimed acting career, Silver was also an outspoken activist for free speech and artists' rights.
Our thoughts go out to his family.

it's so sad to hear tha anybody died that young. I am glad to hear it was peaceful and he was surrounded by family.
So sad. He was a very good actor.
Rest in peace, Mr. Silver…
His death is affecting me deeply. Ron Silver was a great actor, but also a great patriot. This is a guy who was a liberal all his life, but after 9/11 he realized we have a terrible enemy that is willing to destroy us and Silver change his political view, even though it was not popular to be a"republican" in Holywood. He was an advocate against radical muzlims and his passion about the subject was something I will never forgot.
He went against the liberals in Hollywood with courage and dignity.- I love him and respect him for it.-
God Bless you Ron-Thank you.
That's sad.

Perez, you suck you Teddy fucking fucktard.
Re: _Alice_ – seriously? is that necessary in a message about someone's death?
Re: _Alice_ – Alice has some serious anger management issues…..
Wow, truly sad… he was so young..
I too am surprised and saddened by Ron's early passing.
He was a good actor, always busy.
His political views were always expressed publicly and in no uncertain terms. He had been a life long staunch Democrat until GWB went to war in Iraq; then he changed his position because he felt the US/Iraq war was helping Israel to accomplish it's purpose and keep it safer. Other Jewish Democrats, lik Ed Koch and Joe Lieberman, possibly Diane Feinstein, took the same position because they felt the US presence in Iraq would permanently make Iraq less of a threat to Israel. Unfortunately it is American resources, especially human life, that have been expended in the process.
But Ron had a right to change his political views in order to show support for Israel and also had a right to express them as we all do. I just disagree with most all of his positions that he publicly expressed during this time in our sad history and the disasterous era of Geroge W. Bush.

Re: rosiebosie – What? It's not like he's reading it. He's dead. And I doubt anyone he knows is reading this site. So take your sanctimonious BS and shove it up your ass.
Re: morticia13 – And? How's Ginny B?
Amazing talent. RIP Ron.
Wow, shocker. I loved this man. Teared up when I read this. RIP, Ron.
He was a genius…and perez your precious libel Hollywood tried killing his career…how about speaking out on that.
His talents will be so missing..RIP
Right wing homophobic Republican douchebag. Good riddance!
Oh get real, Perez. This creep became a 9/11 Republican after the terrorist attacks. He was no proponent but an opponent of free speech who championed George Bush's policies in Iraq and supported waterboarding and Guantanamo. Worse, the former Democrat didn't vote Democrat in 2008 because–and I quote him from NY Times Oct. 11, 2008, p. B2–"Michael Moore supports Barack Obama and the Democrat party, so I do not support Barack Obama and Democrats." Free speech? I feel sorry for the family–sorry that they had him as a member. I suspect he has a nice place in hell.
Re: COCACOLA – Go drink some coke, you George Bush-lov ing, war-mongering, child-hilling, constitution-raping Republicant. God does not bless people like him–he sends them to hell for all eternity. Revalations 21:8.
Re: dezboy – Agreed.
What a shame that anyone dies so young of cancer. Don't make it sound like he was a great actor or a patriot though. He was a good actor and a right-wing nutjob railing against the Constitution in W's quest for power.
I Liked that Guy…I would watch anything he was in.Man.
Re: fletcherfletch –
You're a real scumbag to use a persons death to trash their memory just because you did not agree with their political views. Typical internet weasel behavior.
It's nice to see your liberal COMPASSION and TOLERANCE on display!
Oh my God, I didn't know he was fighting cancer. Hwood can't afford the loss of such a talented and intelligent actor. My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.
Good riddance douchebag!
I FIND IT SADDENING THAT A MAN WHO WAS HIGHLY EDUCATED, AND A TONY AWARD WINNER GETS BRUTALLY SCATHED BY THE PEOPLE HERE MERE HOURS AFTER HIS DEATH.
-
HOW IMMATURE OF ALL OF YOU!
-
RON SILVER WAS A STAUNCH DEMOCRAT, WHO AFTER 9-11 CHANGED HIS POLITICAL VIEWS. JUST BECAUSE HE CHANGED HIS POLITICAL VIEWS HE WAS MALIGNED BY HIS PEERS…HOW SAD IS THAT?
Sad
I really loved him as an actor.
Re: JuneGordon – How'd you like somebody to say that shiz about somebody YOU LOVED who died? You're a real idiot. Class A.
The only thing he really changed was his support of the war. He was an Independent in the end. He was socially liberal, but fiscally conservative as they like to say. So don't worry, I am sure he still supported abortion, gay marriage and all the traditional liberal viewpoints. He only supported the war. And he hadn't worked in almost a year because he had the guts to stand up for his beliefs. Nice, tolerant, Hollywood folk showing their true colors, as usual.
Fine actor. Great cause to be an activist for. R.I.P.
Man I was shocked to read this. I love his acting. Such a shame. RIP
