The Borat star managed to trick military officials at the Alabama Military Academy into thinking he was filming for a German TV documentary for a short time!
The Alabama National Guard invited the actor and his crew onto the academy, suiting Cohen up in military garb over his trademark thong and began training him until a young cadet recognized the star and ratted Cohen out to his superiors!
Way to ruin the bit!
Sergeants at the academy are utterly embarrassed by the security snafu, with Sgt. Katrina Timmons explaining how Cohen and Co.'s true identity managed to slip through the cracks. "They called and said they were a German affiliate of a TV station doing a documentary on what it was like to be in officer candidate school… They wanted to know if they could come here and embed one person for a few hours up to a day."
Sounds legitimate enough!
"It's an embarrassment to the Alabama National Guard," said Timmons. "Since then we have put in protocols to make sure this doesn't happen again."
