It is looking like all hope may be gone!
Fox News is now also reporting that actress Natasha Richardson, who was critically injured while skiing on a beginner's slope in Canada on Monday, is brain dead.
Additionally, Fox News is reporting that Richardson is "being transported back to New York City before she is to be taken off life support."
A statement from Natasha's family is expected tomorrow, Wednesday.
So sad.

This should not be "gossip", it should be world news. I hope this is inaccurate. How could this happen? I am heart-sick. Sending thoughts of love and support to her family and close friends. This is a tragedy.
That contradicts what I just read on the news. They said she walked away from the accident talking and joking but fell ill later. It also made it sound like she wasn't doing that poorly. I hope it isn't true. She's a really great actress.
This truly is so sad. Knowing that she was skiing with her boys…and now…this. I am sending my thoughts to her family during these truly hard days.

This is so sad. but something sounds a bit off. She acted fine after she fell, yet they took her off the slopes and sent her home? now she's dying? I've never heard of this. But this is devastating. Always, Always, always wear a helmet. Even if you are a beginner or expert. Once I hurt my head ( not NEARLY as bad as this, but my head did get cut and bled a while) because I did not wear a helmet. it was my first day ever skiing, and I had no clue i'd need one. now I know. Ok. I just finally got ahold of my great-aunt, who is a nurse in Queens, she is alsoa nurse who comes into other cities for emergemcy care, she was there during 9-11, and she is in the loop. She said that Natasha is not going to make it, that her brain actually swelled into her spinal column, and there is no going back from that. They are holding the press conference tommorow in the hopes that people will leave them alone today to do what they have to do for her and her family and kids. Maybe we should all quit commenting and give them what they need to get thru this shocking horribe time. I for one will not comment on one more post about her or Jade. No matter what someone does in real life, in death they do deserve dignity

Some other sources have said she's still alive but it doesn't look good. The doctors have sedated her because of brain swelling. I guess we just have to wait and see what the official word is.

Donating organs is such a lasting gift that so many other people can benefit from. Let everyone out there take a moment to understand this and if this happens in your own family, be prepared… talk about this with your loved ones and if at all possible, be a participant in the Organ Donation Registry in your home state so that the doctors and hospitals can know as soon as possible that your final wish was to save a life.
Fox is accurate on it's reporting so take note Perez. Fair, balanced, and accurate is the way to be.

it is very likely that she thought initially she was OK—brain injuries are hard to detect immediately after, but later on can end w/ poor outcomes. (im in the med profession). FYI, anytime you hit your head, even riding a bike, you should go get checked out with a doctor. It's better to be safe than sorry.

She didn't die from skiing per se… she hit her head. Perhaps there's more to it than the "accident". I'm not sure if aneurysm can cause swelling of the brain tissue into the spinal column but then again, I'm no neurosurgeon. She's way too young to die. Bless her.

That is not what is being reported in Canada. The brain dead thing is hilarious. Not so sure whether her being on life support is fact or not.
I tell ya what though buddy,a spinal injury might not be out of the question, or perhaps a neck injury.
Also, Natasha was taken to hospital only after she complained of not feeling well. That was about one hour after she had her accident, and accident by the way that has been described as rather unspectacular.
She's in the New York now. No word though if the life support Fox News claims she was on was disconnected before she was put aboard a plane.
