Paramedics Turned Away After Richardson's Fall, According To Ambulance Company

Reports have revealed that an ambulance was immediately called to the scene of Natasha Richardson's fatal fall in Canada on Monday, but EMT workers were turned away before they ever reached Richardson.
Assuming the actress was unharmed after her tumble, paramedics were told their services were no longer needed.
Even though Natasha was "laughing and joking" after the accident, head trauma can take a turn for the worse hours or even days after the impact.
"When you have a head trauma you can bleed," said Yves Coderre, director of the ambulance company that services Mont Tremblant. "People don't realize it can be very serious. We warn them they can die and sometimes they start to laugh. The don't take it seriously."
As for Richardson, he says his ambulance crew "never saw the patient,” said Mr. Coderre, whose company, Ambulances Radisson, serves Mont Tremblant. “So they turned around.”
In light of the tragedy at hand, there is a lesson to be learned from the accident - head trauma should always be checked out by a professional, no matter how serious you think the injury may be.

OMG her life could have been spared …..
this is really old news…even my local news reported this
Totally agree with you on the last sentence. Get checked out by a pro
Wearing headgear should become mandatory.
It's sad that this had to happen for people to start realizing this.
Doesn't that just make it sadder…
This just shows the importance of wearing a helmut
I can't believe this. Her family must be devastated. My heart goes out to them.
xxxx
Natasha should have been wearing a helmet and she sign papers refusing treatment.
FUCK.
And because of them turning around… it caused her death
i grew up skiing and lived in colorado and never wore a helmet skiing or snowboarding. no one was really doing it….but now, even though it might not be cool or look hot on the slopes of aspen or the alps but this could have saved her life. i will definitely be putting one on next time i'm out skiing. be safe.
why do people always try to make tragic news stories about themselves?
HONK IF YOU THINK PEREZ NEEDS TO SHUT HIS BIG GAY TRAP ABOUT THIS ALREADY!
Ok..it's sad…she's gone…MOVE ON !!
LG STILL THINKS THE AUTOPSY WILL SHOW THE LOVELY LADY HAD A BRAIN ANEURYSM THAT **CAUSED** HER TO FALL, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.
This is truly a tragedy. Constantly posting on what could have been done differently does not change to outcome. The poor family has to work through this, and you copying and pasting stories from TMZ shows what a lowlife piece of scum you truly are!
The ski resort was very quick to take a cover your ass approach to their actions. We can only hope that it was Natasha herself who chose to reject treatment, as it is ultimately her decision. The resort no doubt smells a lawsuit and has been very careful to claim they did everything right.
MOST imprtant ting to learn from this tragedy is: ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET when skiing!!!!
Yes, it doesn t look that good and you cannot let your hir flow int he wind freely, and may ruin your hairdo a little bit, but it can save your life! On German skiing slopes most people wear helmets, especially children, on some slopes you are not even allowed in without a helmet….
One of the first statements the ski resort released was to cover their asses in this. They said that that had told her she needed to see a doctor and she refused. Plus, they said they made her sign a medical release form–which of course absolves them of any responsibility for what happened.
This story is too sad, and she is sadly gone. Just leave it alone….
doubt if a check-up could have prevented anything, the damage stays the same : (
Re: xmarielx – She refused treatment, and signed a waiver that she was all good. Not her fault, not theirs, just a terrible terrible accident. Goes to show we should all try to enjoy each day, doesn't it?
Re: aj – Honk, honk, motherfuckin' honk!!
Re: LeoNa$ GHo$t – That, or perhaps another pre-existing condition that was exacerbated by the fall, very possible.
maybe if she would have let them check her out they could have done something to prevent it from going as far as it did
lesson learned
she had a hemmorage before she even crashed…it would not have made a bit of a difference
It just makes you wonder, maybe something happened inside her head to make her fall in the first place. Maybe the fall had NOTHING to do with it. Maybe like an anuerysm. Never know!
Yes, Perez. Sometimes you are so awesome. Get it checked out even if you feel fine. You are right.
Its called walk and drop……
You never know if a helmet would have saved her or if the paramedics treated her immediately afterwards. Her fall could have been caused by a condition not yet diagnosed. This was a tragedy that could happen to anyone. We all should just be aware that life can be taken away by any given moment…just walking out your front door or even in your own house. You just never know. My prayers go out to her family.
let her rest in peace fat a$$
We never know how r things inside… maybe we have a weak vein that can just poor out or get damage. As we know, internal bleedings are not easy recognisible
………
i think it's a little early to be making a PSA out it…
THANKS TMZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly, do ANY of you at Mario's master control have an original thought?
I don't think it's possible for you to have an original thought if you put ALL of your heads together!!
Fucking idiots.
…
Re: aj – #13 HONK, HONK, HONK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its just so sad.
My brother was in a head-on collision last year. He had to be taken out of the car, but he felt fine. 20 Minutes later he collapsed with permanent brain damage, there is/was really nothing that could have been done. I hope those poor people understand, it was just her time to go.
It should be mandatory that you must get checked out for all head injuries, but I guess people do have their rights…
This is old news - I read it yesterday on several sites. Too bad you're so busy promoting yourself to stay current.
Nobody wants to go to the hospital after a fall, when there is no pain at all. I would have done exactly what Natasha did, and refused to be taken away if I was feeling fine. But now we have learned that after a fall that hit your head, we should absolutely see a doctor ASAP. It is not known if she would have lived even if she had gotten care immediately after bumping her head. I will miss Natasha, she was beautiful and most of all had CLASS. Au revoir ma beauté !
when she refused treatment, someone didn't do their job well enough to explain to Natasha how serious it could be. Any medical professional knows that a closed head injury may not seem serious for a while. I guess it's a wake up to everyone now.
If I were her, I would have gotten the ambulance drivers to take me to the hospital just to get checked out, but I would never allow them to do anything else. You have to understand that in Quebec, unless there is a doctor in the ambulance, you the only help you will get is that of a basic first aider. They have no upper level training like most paramedics. They are not paramedics in Quebec, they are just ambulance drivers. In addition, I feel awful for her family for what happened, but you can't know when it happens what injuries you have. She fell down. Thousands of people do that and are fine. This was a very sad, freak accident. Lesson here, always wear your helmets, always get checked by a DOCTOR and follow your instincts.
i do not want to sound unsympathetic. but if she was not a celebrity, the paramedics and ski hill would have insisted she be checked out. but because the culture of celebrity is that the get whatever they want. the resort did not want to make waves and relented. Most people realize when you hit your head hard , get it checked
,
I really don't think the paramedics could have done much….the damage was already done. Maybe they could have saved her, but she would have been in a vegetative state the rest of her life.
R.I.P
Natasha Richardson
Re: indianna leanna – MY NEPHEW LIVES IN THE PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC AND IS STUDYING TO BE A PARAMEDIC. AFTER HIGH SCHOOL HE GETS 2 YEARS OF COLLEGE AND 2 YEARS IN UNIVERSITY. AFTER THAT HE WILL WORK FOR AN AMBULANCE COMPANY. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.
before people say "cover-up" or whatever, all it takes is a quick look at the 911 calls and dispatch records. can't fake those. now i'm a little freaked out as i banged my head really hard on the cupboard back in december. had a big bump on my head. but i didn't get a headache or feel dizzy or whatever so didn't go check it out. i realize now that was dumb. so yeah, no matter how little i think it is, i'm gonna go and get things checked out from now on. i mean she fell on snow, and it was the bunny/kiddie slope. i don't know what happened. she didn't hit a tree. she didn't hit someone. she just went plop on the ground. was there a rock, or something? it's all so bizarre. goes to show one can't just dismiss a little bang or tumble. still can't believe it.
Re: indianna leanna – huh, what the eff? not paramedics but "ambulance drivers"? they are paramedics or emergency medical technicans. you don't get to "drive an ambulance" until you've gotten all the necessary medical training. you're the first responders, way before doctors so you bloody aren't allowed behind the wheels of an ambulance until you've gotten that degree on the wall. maybe that's the way they do things in the usa, but most definitely not in canada.
The surviving family or someone should get the word out; I personally tell people all the time to wear helmets and go to the dovtor if you hit your head. I suffered a concussion while snowboarding without a helmet 10 years ago and was immediately taken to the mountain medical center, this was not a choice, I was told the best way to tell if you have had a concussion to remember if you felt a black part. If you hit your head hard and think you may have suffered a concussion do not go to sleep and see a dcotor, even if you think you are overreacting.
yeah…the worst part of this is that IT DIDNT HAVE TO HAPPEN THIS WAY. if the emt's would have examined her, it could have saved her life.
what a sin. ;( poor kids
that's horrible. but if the paramedics did come they probably would have just asked her questions…not conducted tests. so whatever killed her would probably still have happened.
