Are Britney Spears' lawyers controlling her life and draining her bank account?
Ever since last year, when a judge determined BritBrit wasn't fit to take care of herself, there have been 17 lawyers and firms involved in her personal life and career.
And it's not cheap, obviously!
According to court documents, Brit has paid over $2.7 million in attorney fees and costs since the conservatorship! So far, her estate has had to pay these fees, not to mention she's still got current fees going on.
Thank goodness she's got her current money-making tour!
Brit's current attorneys, repping her dad Jamie Spears, presented the court with the bills on Monday. Their bill was over $1 million alone!
Attorney Geraldine Wyle stated, "Since the initiation of the conservatorship, as a result of the concerted efforts of Mr. Spears as well as all the professionals involved, all aspects of Ms. Spears' life have been stabilized and continue to improve."

The comeback Pop Tart will be a Cash Cow to her attorneys until such time as she is deemed mentally fit to be released from the conservatorship. That's unlikely to happen, so her estate will continue to foot the bills. Hopefully, her financial advisors have made wise investments and the money will continue to be funneled to the proper channels. I wonder how much, if anything, Britney will see of her Circus Tour profits?

I've worked as a paralegal for in-house counsel for a large corporation and we always negotiated our outside counsel bills down when we felt they were over the top. This to me sounds way over the top. I could probably get those bills cut by at least a third if they put me in charge!
17 attorneys working on this is way too many… there should be a couple of partners in charge who have associates and paralegals doing the dirty work for them and billing at a lower hourly rate. Sounds like they're charging partner fees for all work. Not good! Law firms will take advantage of you if they know you've got the deep pockets and the only way to stop it is to stay in charge!

It is not easy being a lawyer to someone like Britney. Bringing back her career is PRICELESS after her breakdown. She is coming back in a hugely in every way right now on top of balancing her seemingly stable life.
I'd say $2.7 mil+ is a pretty good deal considering ALL the money she is bringing in from the tour right now!

Gary Bongiovanni, a spokesman for concert tracker Pollstar, tells E! News that, judging by the early numbers that have come in so far, Spears' Circus tour is doing her bank account good.
"From just one show in Tampa, Florida, on March 8th, she sold 19,845 tickets and made around 1.9 million dollars," Bongiovanni said. "If that is any indication of how the tour is doing, then we don't have to worry about Britney. Because of the economic environment, every tour can expect that some cities just won't sell out."
There are still 24 performances to go on the 36-date itinerary.

Her behaviour necessitated a conservatorship. Conservatorships of assets that size don't come cheap. Better to spend the cash to protect her assets long term than to just hand that cash and more over to that Sam dude, or the Adnan. This is probably a lot cheaper way to go, and will probably protect her from future cash grabs. Her internal 'oily guy' radar doesn't function. Yet.
To add: but who will protect her from the porked up fees of oily attorneys? They can seek a judge for that, who will look at those fees and adjust them suitably.
