Rascal Flatts Love Them Some Gays!

The country pop band has just released their new single today, Love Who You Love.
Many are taking the song as a sign that the band loves their gay fans as well, particularly due to the fact that the song focuses on gender-free lyrics.
Gary LeVox from the band says, "We actually have some gay people that work with us, and we have a lot of friends that are gay, too, and I know that this song has inspired them. I know that coming out was tough on their parents and on them and the whole entire family. For a long time, some of them didn’t get to hear ‘I love you’ from their dads or be accepted in that way. It’s helped a lot of our friends."
Guitarist Joe Don Rooney added “That’s what’s cool about our music. You can interpret (it like) that. If you get that — it’s perfect. If you are someone who’s gay or someone who’s straight, you still feel something from the song, and that’s what we want.”
If only everyone felt the same way!

Rascal Flatts Kicks Ass!
I personally know the gay man that works for them, John Murphy, and he is AMAZING! He and his partner (equally amazing!) are a wonderful example of the love that we would all be lucky to have in our lives. This world is a much better place because of people like them - thank you RF for speaking out. Love & acceptance & kindness.

I think Rascal Flatts has the universal appeal anyway. Even if you don't like country in general, you might like them.
Good for them for being supportive of the gay community. But they can FUCK OFF if they think they're country. That music is not country by any stretch. First of all –I LOVE RASCAL FLATTS!!! And….I am super excited that country music has crossed this topic….I come from a Midwest, Nascar-Lovin, Wedding Reception at the VFW Hall, Country Music Addicts Family…and most of my friends and family who are found in this realm of the American population are on the conservative side aaaaand are EXTREMELY HOMOPHOBIC….and they consider me the strange one because I travel the world–live in Europe and have friends from EVERY background and belief….So for AN EXTREMELY FAMOUS COUNTRY MUSIC GROUP TO DO THIS MAKES ME PROUD!!!! MAYBE THESE TYPES OF AMERICANS CAN GAIN SOME TOLERANCE FROM THIS!!!!
