Aww sucks. Well it's not like they liked their job any who hahaha
It's their own fault. It costs a family of 4 about $500 to go there just for the day. It's about 80.00 each to get in, then food, parking, and souvenirs. You know you're not getting out of their without souvenirs, so don't even say it!
I know it costs a lot to run the place, but that's beyond overpriced. They're greedy, and I feel sorry for the people who lost their jobs.
Re: Los Anjealous – getting out of there, not their. I know better!
Laid off, NOT "fired", Perez. The use of the word "fired" implies job termination for casue (such as stealing or breaking rules). These people did nothing wrong.
Disney land/world is over rated anyways. First?
Way too expensive and each time I have been there I hated it.. the only place worth it is Typhoon Lagoon but still everything is so overpriced that it is too hard for a family to take their kids there anymore and it is a sad situation all the way around.
Disney, which is Central Florida's largest employer with about 62,000 "cast members," refused to say Thursday how many jobs it has eliminated. But one person familiar with some details of the cuts said he was given an estimate of 450. that isn't even 1% perez. If the rest of the companies could keep the layoff % that low, we would be doing alot better right now.
I actually did like my job, thanks. While it might have been "their own fault" Los Anjealous, it sure as fuck wasn't mine.
I've heard from people that anyone who works forty hours or more a year gets a free year long pass to any disney park, so keep in mind it might have just been part time employees who didn't do it for their main job. But who knows. Times are tough, but the economy is already building back up, if slowly.
Re: KatyPerryFanOMG –
I'm pretty sure that even people who hate their job would prefer to have it than be unemployed.
Re: KatyPerryFanOMG –
Excuse me but my Dad does like his job. Alot. My father has worked at Disney as a Labor Scheduler for 13+ years. You obviously have no idea what it is like to be told that you could be one of the layoffs. Especially when he supports my mother and brother himself. I hope you lose your only income just because of your attitude…hahaha
maybe Obama will nationalize Disney.
the people who got layed off had absolutly no warning. this blindsided everyone. these were people who made you want to come to work everyday. yesterday was one of the hardest days i've ever had working there. i had to say good bye to people who had become like family.
I am going to do my part and support Disney by taking my family to Disneyland for a week starting next week. It brings my family together and it's the happiest place on earth!
Actually, I read Disney's theme parks are doing OK right now despite the economic situation, attendance is only down slightly. Perhaps they are just preparing if things really go all to hell in the future.
BTW, considering they employee over 60,000 people, a layoff of only 450 is not really all that bad. It could be worse
I worked for the Disney Store and was laid off about three weeks ago, there was about 150 people laid off at that time.
I live in Florida. Disney world isn't what it was years ago. You don't see the Disney Characters walking around like you use to. If you want a picture with one, you have to pay. It's over-rated and over priced.
It doesn't matter if they liked their job, a job is better than nothing. I should know, my father might be one of those lay-offs. Keep your insensitive, butt-ugly jokes to yourself. We all thought Disney was still doing OK, it could be your job next.

People should keep their insensitive, butt-ugly jokes to themselves. Most people thought Disney was doing OK, it could be YOUR job next (that is if you even have one).
April
Disney has always been atrocious!
Perez, while it's unfortunate that these people lost their jobs, the truth is that 450 people is an EXTREMELY small percentage of their employees. Most of these employees were part-time, as well. I wouldn't exactly say they were "hit HARD". That's a bit of an exagerration.
That's awful. =( Disney's my favorite place in the entire world, those poor people…
disney put all their money into jonas brothers 3d concert that flopped like no other and now the little people must suffer.
YESSSSSS!!!

hopefully these firings will RID the park of all those LAZYASS, disinterested workers.

whole gallons of milk..(over look the dozens of PEPSI liters in the background)

to think my fam suppose to go there in july, oh well….
Re: MatsMoe –
Go jump off a bridge or something! You are very insensative to people who are LOSING their ONLY INCOME!!! Prick
What makes this so upsetting is that the majority of people being laid off are mid-level salaried individuals who have worked very hard to get to where they are and were not given much warning. These weren't your overpaid executives or your "lazyass, disgruntled workers" as someone so eloquently stated above. I spent over 5 years working for the company in Orlando and getting to those mid salary positions is not an easy task. You certainly have to put in your time seeing as how they like to promote from within. The people who were able to work their way into those mid-level management positions were dedicated individuals. The majority of them had been there anywhere from 5-20 years. As with anything there are politics associated. And yes, in the grand scheme of things it is a relatively small number when you look at the bigger picture. It's just sad to see so many quality people who have devoted so much time and passion be let go due to an economic downturn. Unfortunately, given the way things are currently, it's unavoidable.
hopefully miley cyrus was one of them
Ok:

That is a total lie. I am a cast member, and yes characters used to walk around all over the park before. They still do in Paris. But, people literally attack them and swarm them when they do so they have something called character attendents now to keep them safe. It does not cost ANY extra money to take a picture with a character by the way. Plus, now that characters are only in certain areas the backgrounds of the pictures are usually really cool. Like, if you take a pic with Buzz and Woody it looks like you are standing on Andy's bed now.
I'm thinking that most people are over Mickey and company. That day and age are gone. We're all a little more jaded, a LOT earlier than ever. Sad but true.
Disney treats their employees like slaves anyway. They should fire the higher up execs that pay their workers below minimum wage and over work everyone.
Blame Adolph Obama, king of the Nazis. WORST PRESIDENT EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Lady B. Good – Ah yes, Obama is most definitely to blame for a theme park that was built in the early 1970s. I must certainly say that the intellectual level of the majority of comments left on here is astounding…
Re: Lady B. Good –
That's funny…as I recall the economy was in a crap hole when he got elected. And maybe I'm mistaken, but I think that one dude…I forget 'w'ho he is, ruined the economy.
But I totally get what your saying…it is totally realistic that obama did more damage in the 80 days since he was president than that one guy did in 8 years. That logic is 100 percent sound in every way. I'm glad there are smart republicans like you to clear up misconception for confused, misinformed people like me. I was stupid enough to use logic rather than scare tactics. I owe you one.
I have to say that it really sucks my sister just got let go and tonight i might be let go myself. Me and my Sister loved our jobs so to all of those who say that we didn't like our jobs or that we are lazy we are not we work behind the scenes and work very hard.
