Sacha Baron Cohen Uses Fake Production Companies To Lure Unsuspecting Victims To The Camera
So that's how he did it!
In order to spear new victims for his Bruno mockumentary, Sacha Baron Cohen first hired a crack team of lawyers and then created a bunch of phony production companies to help dupe Nazis and white supremacists into giving telling interviews.
Chromium Films, Cold Stream Productions, and Coral Blue Productions are among some of the more than 31 fake companies. All of them link to the same phone number and address.
Upon their discovery, many of the "companies" were shut down, and while it might anger some of the interviewees to realize they were taken for a ride, it's not Cohen's fault they're idiots!

What everyone seems to be missing is that his films are far beyond comedy. They're social commentary disguised as comedy - and brilliant at that. He is revealing people at their ugliest and most vile in order to shed light on hate and bigotry. That's why people are so angry with him - maybe he makes you look at yourself in the mirror a little harder.

Borat had one of the funniest scenes of all times in it, but Sacha Baron Cohen is manipulative and belittling. He uses deceit to humiliate others, and in doing so has shown himself to be untrustworthy.

People responding to him are not showing their "true colors." They are thrown off guard by his manipulation and bizarre, anti-social behavior. It looks to me like most of the people going along with him at first can't believe they've heard him correctly and then humor him in a kind of, "Um, how do I handle this nutcase?" way, rather than revealing their "true bigotry."

It is not uncommon for production companies to use phony names during filming. Productions do this all the time to conceal the project as it is being filmed. I have been paid by tons of phony production companies from the biggest names in the business. Although this particular case makes it seem malicious, it is only to protect the information from leaking.
