Vatican To Boycott Tom Hanks!
With so many problems in the world, we find it funny the Vatican has time to focus on this nonsense!
Tom Hank's latest flick, Angels & Demons, based on the best-selling novel by Dan Brown, is receiving strong opposition from the Vatican.
According to Avvenire, the Vatican's official newspaper, the church "cannot approve" the film. Another Italian newspaper claims the Vatican will soon call for Catholics worldwide to boycott the flick.
However, Archbishop Velasio De Paolis is worried that boycotting the movie will create a "boomerang effect" by giving it more publicity.
Guess the Pope and his posse are still bothered by the fact that the book and movie suggested Jesus had secretly married that "whore", Mary Magdalene.

Even last year, while filming, the Vatican banned filmmakers from entering the Holy City or any church in Rome really. So one of the movie's key scenes, set inside church of Santa Maria della Vittoria, had to be filmed on a soundstage.
According to a Vatican spokesman, Father Marco Fibbi, he said, "Usually we read the script but in this case it wasn't necessary. Just the name Dan Brown was enough."
The flick hits theaters worldwide this May 15th.

I don't think the Pope needs to worry about angles and Demons. If it is as poorly made as The Da Vinci Code was then he has NOTHING to worry about! Only ignorant liberal democrats think the story is true.

Hey June you crotchedy old pisstard: you libs always think you're so refined and above it all. You aren't even understanding the point: the Vatican called for a boycott, not a BAN. They are totally different things. Boycott means "we disagree with the premise, so we're not gonna see the film" - this is a completely legit activity in a free society like ours. BAN means "nobody can see it; it's not allowed to be seen by anyone" - which is the stuff you see from those Islamic d-bags. So wake the fuck up, buy a dictionary, and then come back and make blanket assessments about a gigantic percentage of the populace (conservatives). I for one am not a practicing Catholic, but I'm pretty sure the vast majority of those who are know the difference between a Biblical parable and literal truth, and they're as disgusted as anyone by the 1/10th of 1 percent of priests who abused kids and deserve to be hung for it.

After being raised in a Swiss convent school, it didn't take me long (I was 11) to realize the "religion" I was being taught was really a feeble attempt at brainwashing. Almost all of the girls turned out VERY anti-Catholic. But hey, thanks for the eye-opening experience!

Anyway, I've gotta ask, did anyone really think this was a great book? I *loved* DaVinci Code. Couldn't put it down, and I was psyched for Angels.. But I found it to be kinda lacking - and that end with the dropping from a helicopter, etc… it just didn't do it for me. I was surprised to see so many positive comments about it - just goes to show you, the beauty of art is in the eye of the beholder.

Not only did I feel as if I was reading The DaVinci Code again, it was so awkwardly written I couldn't finish it. When I got to the verbose, unfortunate and amateurish phrase "The thought that my mind furnished," I threw the book across the room, never to pick it up to read again. And, to be honest, I had trouble finishing The DaVinci Code, mainly because I had already read about all of the main "ideas" in the novel, so the book was sort of boring. But, then again, anything that embarrasses the Catholic Church can't be all bad . . .

If Vatican is so worry about their position on the movie, why they don't do all their things quiet. Vatican is famous for their secretly behavior and then they want to ban something that it's fictitious. I love all Brown books, even the bad ones. A&D is my favorite book of all times, because open your eyes to a different Vatican possibilities and how they control the world thru their so-called religion.
Well this is actually a prequal of DaVinci code.. i don't really care if the Vatican ban this movie.. i read this even before i read the DaVinci code and it's a page turner.. i just hope they don't messed it up like the movie of DaVinci code.. i will watch it over and over..

As for you others: BAN is completely different from BOYCOTT.
BAN is what the Chinese do to people who want to check out youtube. BAN is what Sharia Muslims do to anything Western. BAN is what the Nazis used to do when they held book burnings.
BOYCOTT is a request by a group that its members not patronize a certain product. The Vatican is requesting a boycott of the movie by Catholics. There's no penalty for anyone who goes to see it. It's a very civil way to protest something.

You better believe the vatican will watch. I had a client who was a priest, and he was reading davinci code when it was first banned by the church years ago. He has said if the church banned it, it must be good!
