Bobcat walks into bar in Arizona, bites two patrons
A bobcat has attacked three people in the central Arizona community of Cottonwood, including two men who were bitten by the animal after it wandered inside a bar.
Officers called to the Chapparal Bar arrived to find the bobcat in the parking lot, where they shot and killed it.
Tests were ordered to determine if the animal was rabid. It wasn't clear how seriously the victims had been wounded.
Cottonwood police say the animal attacked Monday when it scratched a woman who thought she had hit it with her car. Then police got a report of a bobcat acting aggressively toward a woman outside a Pizza Hut.
About 11 p.m. came the call from the bar that a bobcat was inside as patrons climbed atop bar stools to get away.

As an animal lover, although it bit 2 people, I still don't think it was necessary to SHOOT it! Ever heard of tranquilizers and animal control!? It wasn't 'viciously' attacking anyone, So I don't see how murder was necessary. These kind of stories sadden me. To think, human being can be so ignorant! If a person punches another person, or is even beating the shit out of someone, the police don't shoot them!

I saw footage and the idiot drunks were taking pictures and not getting OUT which is why they got bit. They werent even really climbing on stools either. They all had their phones out and were laughing etc.

Animals that normally avoid humans are assumed to be rabid if they attack humans. We're not talking grizzlies here.
Once a human or animal shows symptoms of rabies, recovery is not an option. When humans are bitten by rabid animals and given shots immediately, they do not get rabies. This concludes your lesson for today.

this happened on my street. in little old cottonwood arizona, my hometown. the first sighting was the end of my freaking street, oh about 500 ft from my parent's house. scary, yet crazy. the best part is hearing about how the cat walked into one of the bars here in town… *sigh* gotta love small towns
oh and by the way… the reason why it was killed was not only because it attacked humans, but the fact they suspected it had rabies… tests then later showed it had rabies. so please, spare the "poor cat" nonsense. here in arizona, if an animal attacks, humans has every rights to shoot it, especially because of the rabies outbreaks in the past 20 some years
Re: SnowAngel1224 – yeah…. i am actually in arizona, and these sightings are quite common. when the animal is just wandering, they usually leave it or tranquailize and take it back to the desert. its when the animal is VICIOUS and ATTCKING people that more desperate measures are taken…. if you lived here and seen the stories (KIDS and TODDLERS being attacked, small dogs and cats being eaten, etc..)) you would have a better understanding of this situation.

Okay - time for my bobcat story….. I live on a mountain in the Pacific Northwest… about 13 years ago a bobcat came down and attacked and killed one of the 2 bunnies my brother had - we had built a bunny hutch in our backyard, complete with fence, etc. That morning we awoke to the sight of white fur everywhere - and half of the poor critter had been eaten (the other rabbit avoided the attack by burrowing underground.) It was a horrific spectacle! People need to learn that these are wild animals - and they are only doing what is innate to them - feeding on prey and surviving. Such is the food chain.

to #6 This happened in my home town, and I know that the reports stated they sent in the dead bobcat showing it was Rabid, because 1st off if you know anything about wild animals they do not approch humans, if anything they run away from us and certainly do not attach in a vicious way. It was confused and obviously suffering from the rabies. Them shooting it was the only option, it would have suffered a long horrible death otherwise with Rabies…and the vitims of its attach now have to under go several treatments of not so fun rabie shots.
