You have no say in bringing up a child who is not your own. Let the bio parent take care of EVERYTHING.       I am the Mum to my husband's two children from a previous marriage. That is a very good statement she has made. He may not be her biological child but she still cares for him. As I do for my husband's children. I don't have the advantage of having a relationship their Mother as she passed away when they were very young. I applaud her for the way she feels.

      Before you attack her statement, please consider a child's perspective. My parents divorced when I was young. Both remarried. Both new spouses treated my sibs and I like their own, and believe me, we were phenomenally lucky in this respect. In no way did anyone replace anyone - we know who are mother and father are. But, there is no measure to the massive benefit it was to us that our step-parents never differentiated us from the other new kids in our family. We felt more loved, more accepted than ever. This is the best possible outcome from a crappy situation (that your parents are not together). It is so much better than a step butting out or not loving the same. Step parents should butt out if they don't consider you their own and love you like their own, but if they do love you like blood, you are so unbelievably lucky. Of course as a parent myself, it would rip my heart out to share my kids with anyone other than my spouse, but … if we didn't work out, and someone else loved them and treated them as their own, I would pray I would have the maturity to see it is best for my children and be f8cking grateful. Gisele's statement is not about Bridget, it is about John's good fortune to have one more person loving them like only a parent can. Bravo for the child.

      I agree with you 100%!!! I am in this situation with my ex & his soon to be wife. It is a very hard thing to deal with for all parties involved. Especially our child. I have a huge problem with someone thinking they should be AS MUCH a part of raising that child, IF both bio parents are already in the picture, in every aspect. As it is with my situation. I am fine with step-parents, as I had a wonderful one myself, but that was because she knew her boundaries. I had a mother.

      Everyone LEAVE GISELE ALONE!!! She was just trying to say that she loves little Johnny just like her own which is VERY rare in combined households. My uncle said those very words to my aunt about my two cousins before they got married (her second) , and for her it was the most beautiful thing he could have said, and me meant it! Thank God for it too. The two boys now have the love of two Dads instead of just one : )

That relationship was widely known to be in the pitts WELL before then anyway. NEITHER Bridgette, nor Tom, nor Gisele even knew that Bridgette was knocked up at the time of their break-up. It would have been chronologically IMPOSSIBLE for even Bridgette to have known it then! WHYYY can't people get their dates (and facts) stratight?
