Andy Hallett, who played the character of Lorne on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off Angel, has passed away at the young age of 33.

Hallett suffered from "shortness of breath" at his home on Sunday night and was promptly rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The actor died later in the evening at 8:35 pm.

Andy is said to have been battling heart disease.

So sad.

Our thoughts go out to Hallett's family and friends.

      about fuckjing time perez.
      my heart is broken over his death, I have been a fan of Andy from his very first appearance on Angel, he was so talented and such a kind soul, always had time for his fans.
      farewell Andy, you were a beautiful star that will shine till eternity.
      my thoughts are with his friends and family.
      Also, thanks to Joss Wheson for bringing him to our attention. RIP Andy. :(

      Andy was such a wonderful actor. He made Angel what it was for me and I absolutely adored him. This is such sad news. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

      Just wanted to say that this is a huge loss, he was an amazing actor and great singer, and he really made Angel what it was. I really hope everyone understands what a tragedy this is. Best wishes to his family and friends - so sorry for your loss.

      Thanks for mentioning this, Perez. As a big Buffy and Angel fan, I attended two Cleveland cons and had the pleasure of meeting Andy. He was a great entertainer and very kind and gracious. May you rest well, young man. Thank your for your entertainment.

      This is just such sad news! The ironic thing is I was watching Angel this morning (as I do every morning while getting ready for work) and I was wondering to myself what Andy was up to. Just such sad news! His final scene in Angel with Christian Kane was one of his best. RIP wonderful young angel! You will be very very missed.

      This is very sad news and in the same week that Alyson had her little girl(haven't seen that posted). My condolences to his family friends and all his fans. No Lorne in an Angel movie if they ever do one. It won't be the same as he was a brilliant actor and did lots for his fans/conventions, even with his condition. RIP Andy

      Yeah I heard earlier today, I can't believ you reported on it. Didn't think you wuld. I'm glad you did. He was an amazing actor and such a good singer. I'll never watch Angel the same way again.

      It's such a shock and so sad that he died. I've not been able to stop thinking about him since I found out.

      I never watched Buffy or Angel and don't know who this man is, but his passing is very sad. I read on another website that he had an infected tooth and that infection spread to his heart causing cardiomyopathy. Scary. It can happen to anyone.

      No, no, no! I am so saddened to hear this. He got really sick at the end of Season 5 of Angel and everyone was very worried about him. It was some form of pneumonia. Some viruses can cause cardiomyopathy and I fear this may be what killed him. He was so awesome on Angel. First Glen Quinn and now Andy. My condolences to his family and friends. He was a wonderful actor.

      This is the first time I've ever seen what he looked like without the demon make-up. He was great in "Angel" — it's a shame he didn't do more acting after that series. So sad that he's gone. :-[

      So sad. I felt tears well up when my husband broke the news to me yesterday. Every year, I watch through the entire Buffy and Angel series' and ironically, last night I was due to start Angel Season 2. I watched 'Judgement' and my heart broke thinking this amazing man has left us. I think he had so much more to give and had only realised half of his potential.

      I found out about this from facebook….James Marsters posted it before anyone else did. So sad. I enjoyed Angel so much more because of Mr. Hallet. He brought comic relief as well as a moral support to the whole show. I wished he would've put out a cd, because I would've bought it. So talented. He will be missed.
