Sequel Soon In The Works

We're guessing everyone is really loving the Star Trek trailer, because the movie hasn't even been released yet and already they're starting to work on the sequel!
Paramount Pictures' Star Trek will hit theaters on May 8th, and the studio has already hired writers to pen the next screenplay.
The current film's director and producer, J.J. Abrams, has also agreed to produce the sequel.
With writers already working on the follow-up script, they plan to have it penned by this winter and ready to go for a summer release in 2011.
Damon Lindelof (Lost), one of the writers, said "There's obviously a lot of hubris involved in signing on to write a sequel of a movie that hasn't even come out yet. But we're so excited about the first one that we wanted to proceed. Obviously we discussed ideas, but we are waiting to see how audiences respond next month. With a franchise rebirth, the first movie has to be about origin. But with a second, you have the opportunity to explore incredibly exciting things. We'll be ambitious about what we'll do."
Hopefully the first movie doesn't bomb at the box office! If so, we're thinking the sequel might go straight to DVD.

You know, as good as this movie is looking like it's going to be, I don't blame them for jumping on working on a sequel ASAP. I've never given a shit about Star Trek before, but I'm planning on seeing this on opening weekend.

That seems ambitious and potentially a huge waste of money. They don't even know if the first one is going to be a box office success yet.

This movie is going to suck big time! Probably a worst disaster then that piece of trash STNG 'Nemesis! And can you imagine those losers at Para.mount are actually wasting their money on this piece of garbage? And to really make sure everyone is laughing at this wanna-be movie they are releasing a line of fragrance! Yeah, because everyone wants to smell like something from outer-space! JJ Abra.ms is obviously ignoring all the facts established in the Star Trek classic series like the FACT that Kirk and Spock DID NOT MEET until Kirk was assigned as Captain of the U.S.S Enterprise. But why little details like that get in the way of a bad movie. Oh, it may not matter to casual fans but it matters immensely to us die hard Star Trek Fans! A FACT which is completely lost on the idiots at the studio!!
