   believe it or not but LOTS of military people ARE closed minded like a motha fuck!! my husband is an active service member and i meet lots of people and when i metion that im a fag hag they go crazy!! them and the spouses!! and its funny cause i looove to discuss about having gays be open in the military and they just get mad!! but on a serious note…majority of services members AND their spouse are closed minded. i havent met anyone thats for it!

   I totally agree with you perez. why shouldnt everyone be allowed to express their sexuality? homophobia, on different levels, is too common in today's society, i reckon.

   So how many people here realize that people are raped all the time in the military while they are serving in Iraq. Especially army dudes do it to other army guys and other branches. So if you come out and say you are gay don't you think that you will be the first they would choose. So think about it, yes you might not be able to express your sexuality but it's the military, it's not about your sexuality it's about fighting for our freedom. So, all in all they shouldn't lift the "don't ask don't tell" policy.

   Of the 26 countries that participate militarily in NATO, more than 20 allow open lesbians and gays. A recent University of California study reports that in these 20 NATO countries, unit cohesion, performance and morale did not suffer because of the presence of open gay service members. Of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, two (United Kingdom and France) allow gays and lesbians to serve.

   It shouldn't matter if a person is gay or straight. They take the same oath I did and are willing to die for their country….let them live their life how they want to! I know MANY gay men/women in the military and would go to combat with every single one. Sexual orientation doesn't make a person a bad Soldier. Being a BAD PERSON makes them a bad soldier. That law is ridiculous and hopefully Obama gets rid of it!
