CBS Shows Told To Cut Budgets

The Recession: Everybody's feeling it!

In response to the floundering economic situation, CBS is requiring all of its television shows, hits or not, to reduce their budgets if they are renewed, which means smaller writing staffs (and junkier TV?).

CBS features divisions is going strong, however, with even a few additions and some flicks set to begin production soon.

      According to industry trades we in fictional film and documentaries are doing very very well… sales in film are up, sales at netflix are up, and documentaries are doing well in ratings (those who get TV distribution)

      can someone tell me why TV is not doing well??

      If you watch reruns of early t.v. shows, they weren't bloated staff wise like t.v. has been for the last couple of decades, and they were great shows. Trimming the fat doesn't necessarily mean bad t.v. Once the fat is gone, maybe they'll get back to some meat in their shows.

      Mark Levin's new book, " Libety and Tyranny" is off the charts.

      the writers are just copying crap anyway-the cop shows are copying from the headlines, especially from ny headlines. maybe this is a warning to over rated, over acting celebrities to be grateful that they are employed

      YAWN….cable is where the real creativity is anyway. Damages, Rescue Me, Saving Grace, The Beast, etc….all dynamic, well written shows as opposed to yet another edition of CSI: East Bumfuck….or NCIS which doesn't even pretend to be about the Navy anylonger.

      Perez, everytime I go on your site you post more blogs about the recession (even beating lady gaga) and i think you're just adding fuel to the fire. The media is partial to blame for belaboring the recession story. We get it, we are in a downward economic spiral, however lets focus on the good things. Once people see light at the end of the tunnel they will be more motivated to get to the light.
