Jay Leno Removed From Boston's Fall Line-Up!
Come fall, Jay Leno's hometown of Boston will no longer be able to view the funnyman on the airwaves!
Boston's NBC affiliate, WHDH Channel 7, one of the top ten markets in America, has decided to pull Leno's new 10 p.m. talk show from their fall line-up due to a conflict with their nightly newscast!
Why the sudden change in the schedule???
WHDH believes the local news would draw a larger audience than Leno's show and we can't say we disagree.
"We feel we have a real opportunity with running the news at 10 p.m.," said station owner Ed Ansin. "We don't think the Leno show is going to be effective in primetime. It will be detrimental to our 11 o'clock. It will be very adverse to our finances. It fundamentally is a better financial plan for us. We are already suffering from weak lead-ins," Ansin explained.
The only problem is that NBC are threatening to strip those bitches at WHDH of their affiliation with the network giants!!!
"WHDH's move is a flagrant violation of the terms of their contract with NBC. If they persist, we will strip WHDH of its NBC affiliation. We have a number of other strong options in the Boston market, including using our existing broadcast license to launch an NBC owned-and-operated station," said NBC president John Eck in a statement released earlier this week.
The Boston affiliate tried to arrange a deal with NBC to air Leno's talk show at 11 p.m. instead of 10, but the network threw a big fat no in WHDH's face!
Looks like Jay's run as hometown hero will soon be drawing to a close!

There is nothing on here at 10 on NBC, so I don't know what WHDH is talking about. If people want to watch the news at 11, then they do, I don't think "weak lead ins" have anything to do with it.

Boston is a NEWS-WHORE city. They can have 24-hours news on all the local station if they had the power. All the news anchor waiting for the next news anchor to fall.
Only time channel 7 plays the news at ten is on CW…WHDH owns the CW local affiliate too. So let's see, channel 7 plays local news from 5-9, 12-1, 4-6:30, 10-11 and again at 11-11:30…what more do they want??????? After a 1/2 hour of watching news I'm done anyway!!!!
One more thing: If you like your fav soaps, don't move to Boston. The news stations will ruin it for you. Every 5 minutes, they will cut the programming to go to BREAKING NEWS: And the breaking news will go like this: there is fire in a construction building…like WHO CARES????

Re: STFUP – He isn't voluntarily leaving the Tonight Show. NBC pretty much pushed him out because they were going to lose Conan if they didn't do something. Conan's contract was coming up and he told NBC unless he got something better he wouldn't be re-signing. NBC called Jay into the office and told him and asked him what he thought they could do to keep Conan (cough) please resign Jay. So Jay gave them what they wanted. But then Conan's ratings have been going down since and Jay's have stayed steady or going up. Other stations were courting Jay and NBC panicked then and didn't want to lose Jay. Thats why they offered the 10pm slot. I'll be watching. Boston's stupid. Who wants two hours of news. If I had been Jay though I would have said FUCK YOU to NBC and left to another network.

Now they have a really slimey story about hookers on craigslist, and they actually did a live caught on camera thing that was so emabarrassing and uncomfortable to watch. Jay Leno doesn't support the local teams or charities. Conan is the real hometown late night host.
Jay is the biggest asshole in late night tv,the stories about him are that he's a back stabbing douche,he's such a phoney and has no interviewing skill what so ever.
if NBC strips the station of their affiliation one of the other networks will scoop it up.
WHDH wants to be more like sister station WSVN it seems. Oh well, NBC has a lot of other options in Boston including Channel 60

Okay, there is major drama behind this story. I'm a Massachusetts resident and WHDH (the offending network) just lost one of their most trustworthy news anchors. Randy Price, had been a lead (and openly gay) news anchor for this station for 12 years was shown the door because he wanted to cover local, important news…his network had different ideas. WHDH REALLY wants to cover sensationalistic, material. Many times their lead story has nothing to do with Massachusetts or New England. It's frustrating, but I feel fortunate that I also get the Rhode Island affiliate, so I'll be able to watch Jay.
I fucking hate 7 news now. They used to be my favorite news station but now they suck! I don't care what other people think I love jay just as much as the other late night hosts, and i watch him almost every night unless letterman promises a good top 10 or better guests.
Me and my family and friends are boycotting channel 7 because its so dumb.
if they don't pick up leno, it means an hour and a half of news because they always have news at 11, too! thats so dumb, who the hell wants an hour and a half of news? shits fucked.
