I live in the area. Everyone in the county was asked to stay off their mobile phones to leave them open for police/emergency. Last I heard the shooter MAY have escaped and run off. I'm hoping that's wrong and/or he doesn't run into someone's house.

go to cnn folks… this is not a place to get facts. The gunman has taken his own life. 13 suspected dead. No one escaped and is possibly breaking into people's homes. That's how hysteria starts.

I am a law abiding citizen, Vietnam Vet, and am armed everywhere I can legally carry a firearm because of violent assholes such as these. This is very sad news, however, you failed to mention the horrific *second in two months* helicopter crash that killed 16 men in Peterhead, Scotland on Tuesday. The second time in two months, same make of helicopter and all oil workers.
This is a big tragedy for Scotland.

I have lived in Binghamton my entire life, and continue to go to Binghamton University there. This is terrible. 14 dead, 4 wounded. Shooter apparently got laid off from his job at IBM. (Local Endicott is the home of IBM) the people taken into custody before were not the gunmen. There was only one gunmen, he shot and killed himself. This was never a hostage situation, he came in and opened fire, and then turned it on himself. They were just left with the bodies of the dead inside. This is a massacre

I put what was being reported on the local news. If you want to accuse anyone of starting hysteria, blame them.
If I could have removed my comments once I found them untrue, I would have.
I apologize if I upset anyone mistakenly.
The news reports are still conflicting (I won't say how, I've learned my lesson).
I just heard things on BBC World News that the police chief said were definitely untrue. We will not know the truth for a while (if ever)
