California is beyond bankrupt and yet anyone can see that allowing gay marriage is a huge money maker…

Hey! I think we are all equal (in theory in America), though am a bit surprised by the court ruling in Iowa. Given I live in a small town (in Iowa), if the word got out that a "gay" person lived in town, they would be in grave danger. I don't believe for a minute that the court ruling speaks for a large part of the population in Iowa, unless I have (just) happened to pick a strange backward little town (less a thousand)? Not gay, but I don't understand how in America in the year 2009 anyone can suggest gay people are "equal" in one sense, but not allowed to say 'I do under the laws of freedom in "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness " as stated in the Declaration of Independence. These three aspects are listed among the "inalienable rights" of man. Having said that; I am at least proud to be an Iowan, in the court took a bold step in the right direction.

As a chi-town gal I hate going to school in Iowa because its so damn dull, but I respect this decision they made, its cool that such a seemingly conservative state passed this decision…. everyone deserves love man!

Now the hogs can have same sex marriage too! (theres more hogs than people here hahahahahaha)

Gay marriage is good for Iowa because discrimination is bad for Iowa. The fact that there is economic benefit is just icing on the wedding cake!

  25. 25

Good news! Iowa deserves to be rewarded for being open-minded and fair. Hopefully, the remainder of the U.S. will jump onboard too. Change is slow.

  26. 26

    Gay marriage 'legalized' in Iowa…

weather its' 'good' for Iowa - remains
    to be seen.

    we'll see!

  27. 27

First of all Perez I love you for posting this. Seems like Iowa is the forgotten state of the midwest. As a proud resident of Des Moines, Iowa I have to say I was elated to hear the news that it is now legal for everyone to have the same right to marry. Hopefully it sticks, and the rest of the country follows suit. Equal rights for everyone!

  28. 28

As an Iowan (and heterosexual) I fully support gay marriage! Woo-hoo! Say no to Hate!

  29. 29

I also want to add to all of you 'religous and conservative' peeps….
if you really want to maintain the SANCTITY of marriage, then we will have to outlaw divorce, outlaw inter-religion marriages, and make it a requirement to sign a document stating you believe in God before you get married (in church of course!)
