The New York Times is threatening to close the Boston Globe, which it owns and has been bleeding money.

      actually, it's just a negotiating tactic to try and get the multiple unions that are involved (writers, drivers, printers, etc.) to take a pay cut and lose most of their benefits including their pensions.

      the real money pit at the NY Times Co. is the NYTimes itself (hence renting out 21 floors of its brand new high rise building). The Globe, while not making the money it used to, is not nearly as costly.

      this sucks ass, and will cause horrible situations for those who work for the Globe, my heart goes out to the families, if this happens, however, it is just technology and a change that was bound to happen, just read any history book

      The NYT has turned into a useless, worthless rag that fails to report news stories accurately. Instead it became a mouthpiece for STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPID journalists who had prostituted themselves to Messiah Dumbama. The biggest blessing to the US newspapers would be the closure of the NYT and ALL of it's affiliates.
