I think he's good, but what in the world kind of record is he going to make? and would you buy it? The amount of press he's getting for this performance seems disproportionate to the actual quality of the performance. Granted, he was better than most of the other contestants that night, but they are stinking lately

      I have no clue what song he sang but he did it exceptionally well. Goes to show it doesn't matter what song you pick (as judges tend to blame viewers lack of knowledge of songs) as long as you sing it well. I'm sure he'll be in at least the top 5, if not top 3.

      Failed to mention that he did the Gary Jules version….umm err rip off and made it sound like he - rewrote the tears for fears version. Simon Cowell probably has never heard the version. Similiar to David cook stealing Chris Cornell's version of Billy jean…Randy called him out on it the next day.
      Either way their is no competition….

      I generally am not an Idol fan, but this performance was pretty cool. He will win as he is the only stand out. Albeit a little campy at times…

      But with the majority of contestants unable to sing better than your average karoke party, he pretty much has it made.

      First….he's definately NOT the best American Idol contestant ever — Kelly is way better, Carrie also, Chris and David to name a few that really are better. Having said that - this was the 2nd performance of his that I could really get behind - kind of a boring song but he did it very well. Was happy to see that his voice only hurt my ears once and he pulled back on that screech very quickly - thank you Adam! And I agree - he has to tone down that falsetto way more - it only detracts - last but not least - thank god the stylists are on the case - his hair is improving all the time! Those pants however, not so much!

      OMG! I cannot, I repeat cannot Take Adam! His voice is so annoying, and affected. I find his style whether it's singing or his how he dressses to be one collage of cliche; It's as if he is dressing with a rocker by numbers. I'm sorry he is absolutely not original!

      Adam was so amazing last night. That was a brilliant performance. It hit me in the gut it was so beautiful, haunting and restrained. He has so much star power and stage presence. I love that Adam is all about just being himself. His intro piece was so funny. He's going to have an incredible career.

      he is definetely original - if you think otherwise then who is he copying or imitating? Just because you don't like someone don't say it's a "rip off" or whatever makes you feel better about disliking him. Every contestant on the show sings a song that someone else either A) already did or B) remade - this is not a show where contestants compose music and write lyrics, they sing song's written and composed by other people. Simon is a big name in the industry, he knows his shit and gave Adam a standing ovation which says alot - who have you worked with in the music industry?

      I saw him last night, and I thought he was amazing. Everyone else except for the red haired 16-17 year old, paled in comparison. That was the only episode of Idol I watched this season, and I am glad I did.

      Re: owlwithknees – I'm very familiar with the Gary Jules version of the song from the Donnie Darko soundtrack, and while he did sing that it in that style it was absolutely not a "note-for-note copy." And more to the point, even f it had been I really don't understand all of the finger-pointing every time a contestant does an updated arrangement of a song–the show isn't called Singer-Songwriter Idol or Arrangement Idol. What's the difference if they sing the original version of a song or a version another artist has updated & that seems to suit their voice & style better. And Adam of all people seems like the last person to take credit for something he didn't create–just last week he gave a shout out on live TV to the band for giving him a great arrangement. I don't think he's trying to fool anyone. If anything, the judges should be more upfront about who did the arrangements & praise the contestants for making good choices (vs. "being original")–it's not the contestant's fault if the judges' comments make it seem like they're taking credit for something they didn't do.

      I don't care how gay this dude is, atleast he seems open and honest with it unlike Aiken. He is going to sell more albums than anyone else on the show this season, whether he wins or not. It is obvious AI knows they have lightning in a bottle with this kid, because every show I've seen, he was either the last or second to last performer. That means 2 things: 1) They want to hold the audience and make them sit through the entire show to see him; and 2) they want him to be fresh in your head when you pick up the phone to vote. These kids rehearse all week, and the producers pretty much know who is gonna tank, and who is going to knock your socks off.

      P.S. If this was 1976, the blind guy would already have a couple gold records.
