Introducing: The New Freddy Krueger!

As we've mentioned before, the horror classic A Nightmare On Elm Street is being lined up for a remake.
A new twist on the storied film franchise means a new actor to play the legendary Freddy Krueger.
Initial speculation had douchebag Billy Bob Thorton playing the killer. But, thankfully, a better actor has been selected instead!
Jackie Earle Haley, who recently played Rorschach in Watchmen, will now be wearing the razor glove and trademark red and green sweater.
The film's direct, Samuel Bayer, says of Haley, "Looking at his performance in Watchmen, here's a guy playing a character under a mask yet you feel tremendous empathy for him. And in Nightmare he is going to be under prosthetic make-up. You have to feel something for the character. The greatest villains are multi-dimensional and I think he will bring that to the character."
So, does Bayer think Hayley risks being typecast because of the role?
Bayer says, "It's what you bring to the material. He's a well-rounded actor who will not be stereotyped by this. If anything, he'll be celebrated for it."
Filming is set to begin on May 5th in Chicago.

JEH is a great actor. It's nice to see a long ago child actor get props and some meaty roles. If anyone has seen Little Children they know this guy can act, his portrayal of a pedophile in the film was spot on creepy.

Keep Robert Englund. He has always played Freddy even in the crappy tv show Freddy'd Nightmares. If they didn't think Englund could do it anymore then it's time to quit making Nightmare on Elm Street movies.
Hate to admit it but i am old enough to have been a fan of Jackie Earle Haley when he was in just a kid in the original Bad News Bears. He was bloody brilliant in Watchmen and although i am not a huge fan of horrors can't wait to see him as Freddy! He really has menacing down to an art!
I love Robert Englund- the best scary guy ever, but they need a new Freddy for a remake. I can't wait to watch this, even if I'm going to sleep with a light on for a few weeks after seeing it.

Can't wait to see this but I know I will regret it. Freddy is the only "monster" that can haunt my dreams and make me hallucinate that the shadows on my walls are him….
