I would never take a guy named "Brandon Flowers" seriously.

Listened to Nirvana all the way back from Vegas today and it was fun to me.

Grunge is better than his pop bs.

    2. 102

that is just his opinion! what do you care!?

    3. 103

I think what he's trying to say is that grunge replaced the fun hair metal bands of the 80's. So then that would make what he said, not really offencive. I don't know what you people are getting so upset for. (and don't bash me, I do love Nirvana…and I like the Killers)
But seriously, this guy has got to be careful. Comments like this (since people take it the wrong way) make people lose respect for him.
      =)

    4. 104

      what the fucK!

    5. 105

Okay so this guy needs to keep his mouth shut. He's a freakin' idiot. Kurt Cobain and Nirvana were the voice of that generation, and the Killer's have maybe put out one DECENT song. Plus, since putting out Mr. Brightside, they've been pretty much DOA. I'll never spend another dime on any of their music because Kurt Cobain is an idol. STFU Brandon Flowers

    6. 106

i think the only Nirvana song Mr. Flowers would be able to name is "Smells like Teen Spirit," LOL

Re: cobhc6669 – Was 80's hair metal fun? I think that some were wishing it were Zeppelin and Ozzy instead of backcombed and bleached hair /jean jackets turning well written metal and rock into a.m. format; Hook, melody, chorus, hook, melody, chorus, 3.5 minutes, ka-ching.

      108

I forgot to add 'and posing video with hot cars and chicks hanging off of them' to that 80's hair band list.

    9. 109

i kinda agree with what he's sayin

    10. 110

The Killers Hot Fuss was one of the most awesome debuts ever. Since then Flowerrs is putting his foot in his mouth and making shitty music

    11. 111

I would hardly call The Killers rock. Brandon Flowers loves himself too much and hey I like The Killers but they got nothing on Nirvana and never will.

    12. 112

Re: She says…. – I'm not 'holding on to the 90's' I'm defending them, I'd do the same for the 60's, 70's & 80's as well. Music from the last 10 years has SUCKED BALLS and has done NOTHING to contribute creatively to the music industry, ie. look where MTV has gone (to shit, as the 90's ended)…
      .
      .
Morons like Brandon Flowers need to shut the fuck up…as do you.

    13. 113

Man…This mother fucker needs to come back to Earth. Anyone think if this guy blows his brains out tomorrow people in 10 years will still listen to The Killers?..I think there's a better chance of Kurt coming back to life and shit kicking this douche for thinking he's important to anyone but himself.

    14. 114

Oh and btw I saw the Killers live at BDO 2006 in Sydney and i'm sorry but Muse and Tool (who I don't even like) stomped all over the killers.

    15. 115

      Love the Killers.
But Nirvana, especially Kurt Cobain, are totally off-limits. Iconic groundbreakers.

    16. 116

As a person who was a teenager during grunge's heyday, and was a Kurt Cobain and Nirvana fanatic, I have to say I agree. Grunge was a huge gift to music but at the same time it contributed greatly to my depression and gave me an excuse to be sad and angry. As much as I love it I also understand the sadness it brought.

    17. 117

Re: Yellow Peeps – 117 Right on Peeps!

    18. 118

      hates kurt
hates gays - or does he just hate gays that beat him at awards ceremonies

      what a good mormon

      119

what the fuck is he talking about, nirvana was the shit. if it wasnt for nirvana this idiot wouldnt even have a career. we would still be "rocking" to hair bands.

      120

Btw i wonder if this guy's music or whatever he does will still be popular in 15 years time……

    21. 121

Why are people getting so riled up about this comment? He didn't insult Nirvana. He simply said that the grunge period was devoid of the more whimsical, quirky elements of rock music. Is that incorrect? If you could conjure kurt's spirit & ask him about his music do you think he would describe it as fun? It is so annoying that people have this god-like conception of Kurt Cobain. Sure he was great, but let it go. He is certainly not deserving (who is?) or likely desiring sainthood (wherever he is).

    22. 122

You have to consider what he's saying. He is commenting on the style & feel of grunge music- he's not saying he doesn't like Kurt Cobain. He's actually been inspired by Kurt Cobain. Look it up & look at the whole picture before you go apeshit over one sentence.

""Rumour: You wrote "Enterlude" and "Exitlude" on Sam's Town after having a dream about Kurt Cobain singing its melody?
      A. "Yes…""

Google it if you don't believe me. :P

    23. 123

The majority of people here are taking this quote waaay too seriously, lol. All Brandon meant was that grunge bands like Nirvana made Rock & Roll all angsty and depressing. Now, I'm not dissing Nirvana but it's true. Before the grunge movement Rock & Roll was fun, nowadays see Rock as being all about angst and deep lyrics and heavy guitars. And it shows here - all you Nirvana fans are like, OMFGHEDIDNOTSAYTHATIHATETHEKILLARZ!!1!1! You should be more like us Killers fans, you know? Unlike you grunge fanatics, we're not serious business. Rock & Roll is fun. Reading all these serious comments from the Nirvana fans kinda prove that Brandon's right, y/y?

    24. 124

Jesus people, slow your roll. I love nirvana and the killers and alot of other bands. It was just a statement and in fact a true one. BFD! So grunge wasnt fun? So what? No reason to go apeshit about the fact that brandon said that. P.S. the only reason kurt cobain is idolized now is because the jackass killed himself. if he were still alive perez would be featuring his heroin and meth addicted ass on this site. Sorry, sad but true

    25. 125

I hope he was joking around cus that isn't the leat bit true!

    26. 126

Is this guy kidding me? Honestly. Nerve on him to even mention Kurt's name, much less insult Nirvana. Grunge was an important period in music history, one that helped define new music today. And if it's not fun anymore, why are there still shows? Brandon Floooowers has to learn to shut his fucking mouth before insulting a band better than his will ever be. Nirvana is art. Jealousy is not.

    27. 127

Coming from this guy, it matters to no one. Kurt Cobain defined rock, and his music lives on. I'm sure anyone can imitate these fucks!

    28. 128

Look at what grunge music has produced - Courtney Love ! I love brandon flowers, and the killers, and he's totally right about grunge !

    29. 129

Kurt Cobain is god! Brandon Flowers is a TOOL!!!! Kurt was A REAL PERSON and people could relate to him because his fans were REAL JUST LIKE HIM!Unlike the hair metal bands that were driving Porches and banging 500 girls a night, which the average person can not relate to,sorry. You can put on a Nirvana record and embrace music and lyrics that you could relate to what was going on in your own life. The hair bands just didn't have that deep kind of connection with people like Nirvana's music did.

    30. 130

I don't think he meant anything negative by it. Maybe just that grunge music was depressing…and it was. I was apart of that whole trend back then but :D it was definitely suicidal music. Then again Kurt Cobain was one fucked up individual. HE KILLED HIMSELF :X Yah…and so people say things like that.

By the way for all you losers that don't know. Download shadowplay. It's The Killers and it rocks :D I'm sure Kurt would have loved it. I loved Nirvana back then, who didn't? I'm sure Brandon did too.

    31. 131

Wow, I never thought I'd live to agree with a member of the Killers. He couldn't be more correct - grunge kicked the life out of Rock. I'm glad Cobain didn't live to piss on music any longer than he did. PS, *victoriaaaa*, if by "define" you mean whimpering cowardice, then yeah, you're right.

    32. 132

Seriously BRANDON your a poser & hypocrite
you say you hate emo but your friends with emo idiot somebody told somebody told yeah someone should of told you to SHUT UP twat.if there wasnt grunge we wouldnt of had PEARL JAM,etc… i use to LOVE the killers but not anymore there SELL-OUTS and there new album sucks its a bunch of pop songs i like there old stuff better before BRANDON FLOWERS GOT BIGHEADED !

      KURT COBAIN ROCKS

    33. 133

Brandon - if you check this site and read some of the angry responses, it really does just prove your point doesn't it?
      xo L

    34. 134

WTF!!! Kurt Cobain was possibly the best thing dat happened to rock music, so shut your mouth COCKSUCKER!!!

    35. 135

      for him maybe…what crap

    36. 136

Brandon Flowers is the best, so shut up. Who cares about what he says actually? It is his and the rest of TKs fantastic music who matters.

    37. 137

what is it when people mention a single bad thing about kurt cobain everyone starts killing themself? the killers are pretty popular for those who pretend they dont know them stop being so ignorant

    38. 138

Tell it like it is, Brandon!
      I love that guy… :)

    39. 139

tbh, I don't think he meant it as an insult, I love nirvana but the last word I would describe them with is 'fun', they didn't want to be fun. I think it's more a lament of how after grunge artists stopped producing campy, bouncy rock and only concentrated on the depressing stuff so they'd be taken seriously. Nirvana were brilliant- the thousands of shitty wannabe grungers that took over the scene as the result of their music are not.

    40. 140

      Dick.

    41. 141

I can't stand this guy but its kind of true. You wouldn't know that if you were born in the 80's and too young to really know ROCK. Grunge was angry and Kurt was a freakin herion addict and well, kids, there is just not a lot of "fun" associated with that drug, especially since he was self medicating! So yeah, it put a negative type spin on things. But I liked the music, it is what it is.

    42. 142

Re: Vancouver – Hahaha, exactly. Grunge is serious business.

    43. 143

Re: cassbird- – "You're", not "your". I didn't even bother to read past the second line after seeing you refer to Somebody Told Me as "emo", lolz. How old are you, 14? You sound like it.

    44. 144

WHAT THE FUCK? first of all no one even knows who the fuck you are compared to kurt cobain you worthless shit… how does he take the fun out of rock and roll? cause no one gives a shit who you are obviously

    45. 145

…oh yeah and last time i checked 'mr.brightside' IS depressing you hypocrite not all nirvana's music depressing

    46. 146

ok he just smacked me hard in the face! HE can FUCK OFF!! I don't ever want anyone saying something negative about Nirvana. He will never have the raw talent that Kurt had.

    47. 147

First of all, all you Nirvana and Kurt Cobain addicts need to chill out, it's not like he's saying they suck. He realizes they had a huge impact on music, but simply wishes to bring back some of what Nirvana took away. And believe it or not, Kurt Cobain is not god, so you don't have to worship at his feet. Second of all, what he's saying is true. The grunge movement was not about having fun, it was more about letting out your emotions out. It's sort of therapeutic in a way to listen to angry or depressing songs as it can relieve those feelings, but it's not fun. Perhaps all of these angry and hostile outbursts about this quote kind of proves that.

      148

Poor Brandon…you know who is going to react to that statement….

    49. 149

Happy FUCK DAY Mr. "Brandy" Flowers! keep ye yap shut! p.s. you and your fruity-pop band are more like "dancers" :P haha

    50. 150

What a fucking mormon! I bet the elders in his church told him to say that after his band took up the ass from their pretty record label. Clearly this guy doesn't understand the real purpose of music!

      Eat brigham young's ass!

    51. 151

Brandon Flowers is HOT HOT HOT!! an so are Kurt Cobain!!!

    52. 152

I think it's peculiar to hear that from a guy who has included a 7" long funeral marcia in his last album…

    53. 153

WTF? nirvana wasn't depressing, whoever agrees with this shit clearly doesn't know real music aka YOU UrMajestyMsG. Kurt Cobain helped introduce a new genre into the rock category. plus, rock and roll is such a 1950s way to talk about rock today. if you want rock and roll, go listen to Elvis or something.

    54. 154

some songs of the period were depressing, but many more were fun.. and maybe even influential. how many killer songs have influenced anyone to do anything but play guitar hero?
